Activision gives release window for COD5

Posted on May 20th, 2008 at 13:14 EDT

With the success of Call of Duty 4 still being felt on the backburner behind the release of Grand Theft Auto IV, Activision has stepped back up to the plate to let its fanbase know that they can expect Call of Duty 5 during the Fall (Autumn) of this year.

Being developed by Treyarch, and not Infinity Ward, leaves a lot of gamers wondering if the same appeal Call of Duty 4 had will be translated over to COD5 with a new developer team. It's not surprising to expect Activision to assume gamers will just be looking to get their hands on another edition of Modern Combat set in a "new military theatre."

With Call of Duty 4 selling over three million units worldwide on the PlayStation 3 alone, it won't come as a shock if its successor follows suit. We'll keep you guys up to date if any new information is set free from Activision about this title.

Woah COD5 this year!! And so soon after COD4!! I can only hope Treyarch can live up to the standard Infinity Ward has set... I'll be amazed if they manage to pull it off, at this moment in time COD4 is the ulitimate FPS, bar none!

psn id: gingo.... if they follow the same route as COD4 and make it a real quality game it wouldn't matter where it was set as a game of that quality can be dealt with being set in WWII

I like WWII FPS games, but Ill keep playing COD4 just because of Treyarch.  I'll buy COD6 when Infinity finishes it.... Which BTW is already being started FYI. And is rumored to be in either Modern or Future setting..

hey ferrit what information do you have to back your claims. im not saying your wrong i just think it is wishful thinking to think there will be a COD6 if so that will be cool but i doubt that is in consideration right now...

NO!!! not treyarch, if it was IW I would have said *uck yeah but this just makes me think its gonna be another COD3

No IW, no buy. Treyarch proved their inability to produce a quality FPS when CoD 3 was released.

i do not believe that they will be silly enough to revert the game back to it's roots...it's almost as to say that GTA5 will be based in the 1930's cinema...

I so hope that they beat the WWII horse dead already.  It's sad to keep seeing devs think that there's still some life there.

well if they keep the cod4 gameplay on cod5 then this will be real cool unlike you guys thinking ha ha

COD3 was okay but not great, lots of bugs and no where near as slick as COD2.

Maybe COD5 will be okay... but I think I'll stick with COD4. be interesting to see the title in action though, but considering it will also be released on the PS2 and Wii I don't think it will be as accomplished as COD4.

This game is supposed to be reales for Wii, and the DS as well as next gen. Be warned and stay away if you are expecting COD 4 style story/graphics.

Maverick6611..It would only fit IW's style.  They started working on COD4 before Tryarch made 3.  And they make games every other year so They most likely have started the project already.
