Newly formed development studio Big Rooster recently discussed the company’s stance on developing for next-generation consoles, touching briefly on the challenges faced when producing games for the PlayStation 3, in addition to how it tackles multiformat development.
Speaking during a roundtable with GameDaily.biz, former Human Head CEO and Big Rooster founder Timothy Gerristson commented on the philosophy of cross-platform development, stating, "publishers and developers have to make a choice to design for one platform or the other, or make a port that's shoehorned onto a platform on which it just doesn't work. That means a split between Wii games and PS3/Xbox 360 games, or a lot of really bad ports churned out to make a quick buck."
Elsewhere, the firm’s technical director, Jason Blochowiak reiterated the difficulties faced with the PS3’s architecture; he did, however, discuss the similarities between the console and that of its predecessor, PS2, insisting it is only a matter of time before developers tap into it’s full potential.
" ... If you take a look at the difference between early PS2 games, versus the games that came later in the lifecycle, you can see that people do adapt to deal with challenging hardware”, said Blochowiak.
Stay tuned for more information as it breaks.

its only a matter of time before developers are able to tap into the true power of the ps3
arthur 56k where did you hear that info from? I'm very curious so if you could, please tell.
will give you a link when i get it, but that is the problem, poepole here dont do any research all they do is troll, look for it in the ps3 forums, there aws something there
Well even if that is true, it's still just a concept they were showing to MS. I'm sure if MS agreed, it wouldn't be the same game that's coming for the PS3. Not all 360 owners have a hard drive, no 360 has a cell like the PS3, no 360 can support Blu-Ray. So While I'm sure the game would've still been good on the 360, it would'nt be the same as PS and would'nt be as good as what we're getting.
The thought that Ninja Theory went to Microsoft with the idea of Heavenly Sword does not mean that it would be of the same quality on the 360. The Heavenly Sword that is releasing for the PS3, the final project, could very well be something that could only be done on the PS3. I have not seen anything similar to it in capability on the 360 yet. The fact that Devil May Cry is being made exactly the same on each console to keep from one being better than the other(as said by Capcom) and that GTA is being held back due to issues with the 360 version, should give you an idea of what the interview that we are responding to went into. The key to the situation that the interviewer goes into is whether or not people will still purchase the games. There are many who have decided not to get a PS3 yet due to lack of quality games. No one blames them. Yet, a petition comes up because consumers want the quality that they deserve in a game, and they are criticized for it. They are doing the right thing. If they do not voice their opinion and show their feeling, the third party developers will continue to put out poor ports to make quick money.
Developers need to stop crying and learn the hardware. Japan and Europe arent complaining. This is 2000&7, 21st century BIT#$ES!
psydistix, hardware comparison speca aint what you guys make it to be, cell may be the most powerful CPU around, but as a CPU, all it can do is what it is designed to do, that is floating point, which is of limited use to game programming, here are some links, one is from IGN, not a playstation fansite or xbox fansite,or something Sony or MS said, that is BS.

the post right above me is ludicrous, a friend of mine once said that it gets old trying to optimize for a hgard console to develop for, and 5 or six years down the line they drop another headache for you to real with, bottom line is that in as much as the celll is powerful, Sony erred on making it difficult to deal with, if you read both links you will also see why the 360 really doesnt need a hard disk for lowered load times, you guys should really read instead of taking the BS spread across this site
there is also a reason as to why it is easier to port from the ps3 to 360 thn the other way round, the ps3 OS uses more memory to run more system tasks like linux etc and these take more memory, with lesss being left for game development, plus RSX is a tadd to underpowered when compared to Xenos, that would explain the crappy ports, VF5 is the fisrt title ported from ps3 to 360, and not only does it look better, it also plays better if what AM2 says is anything to go by
