A couple of representatives from the movie giant, Blockbuster, have confirmed that all of their North American stores will soon be expanding their video game libraries. This expansion won't just come in size, but in retail copies and rental copies made available of each title.
The expansion will offer not only hardware and software, but also accessories of the three major consoles on the market. This would obviously include the PlayStation 3. Alongside this increase will be an exclusive PlayStation 3 bundle only found at Blockbuster locations. The bundle will include a 40GB PlayStation 3, Spiderman 3 (BD), Transformers (PS3), and a 12-week rental card for PlayStation 3 games and Blu-ray movies. The bundle is expected to retail at $499.99.
"We're committed to offering a full assortment of everything gamers want in our stores - hardware, accessories and retail and rental games across all platforms - including Nintendo Wii, Sony PS3, Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS," said Rod Murray, Blockbuster’s vice president of games merchandising.
Blockbuster seems to be turning into quite the PS3 headquarters for everything you may need. Not many people know that you can actually trade games in at Blockbuster as well for more respectable prices than GameStop usually offers its customers. With their library of titles expanding, this only gives you more reason to do so.

Bout time that they see video games are taking over.
Blockbuster is AWESOME!!! They usually have the games I want not available, WOOT this is gonna be a lot better. They are getting smarter!
Probably because the download generation means less movie rentals for them, as for offering better price value on games than gamestop, thats BS. Smart business move though.
Wait a second...since when is Transformers out on BD??? Is it coming soon?
Edit: Okay, I did some digging, and it appears the source article linked above is inaccurate in saying that the movies Transformers and Spiderman 3 will be in the exclusive bundle. In the Kotaku article it says that Spiderman 3 will come in the bundle along with the video game "Transformers The Movie."

My local Blockbuster really gives good prices for games, I got The Club as a gift and tried it and after hating it they gave me 42 dollars for it. Threw that towards my copy of gta4 lol.
I already saw the bundle at my local blckbuster last week and I woundered why I hadn't already heard about it. plus they already expanded their gaming section. Oh Btw its transformers the game not bluray
they have had the ps3 bundle at our stores for a while now we also have a big blu-ray/ps3 display
lol

wow... didnt know blockbuster accepts trades....sorry gamestop i will take my trading to blockbuster now f da bull
@ bplewis. The article Says Transformers PS3 not BD.
The article is correct.
I like that blockbuster is very supportive.. but $499 to rent a system and games. Why when someone can just buy a system, and then subscribe to the unlimited game rentals.
@bplexis24 it is probably Transformers the game since it just says PS3. this is good news though i am glad some american companys are giving the PS3 some respect @phil it also includes a game pass which includes a bunch of game rentals i think
They take games for trades?! *slaps forhead*
*
Anyway, yeah when I was a kid working at BB, the deposit for renting a system was always the cost of a system. That's for the obvious reason. Way back in the day, it was 1/2 the cost, so people would just steal it, saying "I got a Super Nintendo or Sega Saturn for 1/2 price!".
i knew video games would rule the world
for you guys that are correcting my original post, I must point out that the original text of the article earlier today said "Transformers (BD)", and not "Transformers (PS3)" which it says now.
Also, the gamasutra article it is linked to says "Blu-Ray movies Spider-Man 3 and Transformers and a Blockbuster 12-week rental card for PlayStation 3 games and Blu-ray movies" so that's why the mistake was made.
Damn i din't know you could trade games at BB
thats where i reserve my copy of gta4, but they still dont have much of veriety, i guess they'er waking up to the fact theres more money in games than in movies
Im surprised so many people arent aware you can do trade ins at BB. Could possibly be different here in Canada, but I did get 42 bucks for the club.
Thet are also one of the cheapest places to buy BD films on the high street.
