Capcom issues apology for Monster Hunter 3

Posted on October 30th, 2007 at 08:12 EDT

Capcom has gone on record to offer an apology to PlayStation 3 users anticipating the next instalment in the Monster Hunter series, following the company’s recent decision to switch development over to the Nintendo Wii.

The statement comes in the latest issue of Japanese gaming publication, Famitsu, where company representatives insist PS3 owners should wait to hear on any announcements regarding the Monster Hunter franchise.

IGN reports: “Famitsu pointed out that some people may have purchased a PS3 once Monster Hunter 3 was announced last year. This drew a big apology from the Capcom reps, who said that PS3 owners should wait for further announcements in the series."

Despite the platform shift, Capcom has pledged that it aims to increase its output for Sony’s next-generation console, and currently has a number of upcoming projects in the works, including Lost Planet, Devil May Cry 4 and Resident Evil 5.

You know I like to consider myself a bigger and better person, way above all this juvenile Capcom hating, but h.e.l.l  I'll cave in just this once.

Crapcom indeed!

WHAT THE F.U.C.K.!? After all this and now we get an apology? f.u.c.k. you Capcom. Even Famitsu stated that a whole chunk full of ps3 users perchased one just for Monster Hunter 3.  Capcom you broke our spirits.

I wasn't interested until after I played freedom on the PSP.  I was curious about  how a PS3 version would look and play like. I guess I will never find out. I am not holding my breath for capcom. Street Fighter 4 and resident evil should be good because if it isn't I will lose faith in capcom

quite honestly im fed up with pretty much all of the developers as they have all sided with the 360 and made it their main platform even though its barely been out 2 years and doesnt have a large hardware sales figure. Sony and the playstation brand have kept the likes of capcom in bread and water over the last 15 years and they all repay them by prefering to develop for the 360 and create sloppy ports for Sony's customers. Dont bite the hand that feeds you. especially a hand that will be there for the long term

yeah, screw them Crapcom developers. Even if they would return MH 3 to PS3, why does PS MH fan base (or potential new players to the franchise) need to go to this extend to get a game back that was originally announced on the platform? THis is to show they rather trim cost by making cheaper version (probably a souped up version of the PSP MH2 since Wiihaveaproblem sucks with graphics), and make money. THis is pretty low for a established company to do.

This means nothing to me. And those last 3 games they mentioned that are being worked on for PS3 are all multi-platformed games. They're not giving us any exclusives.

DAMN it Capcom. I'm so sick of them making excuses. When will PS3 get there own great games. So far it's not looking good...        First off Lost Planet should of just been released on PS3 not on X-Crap then Pc a year ago, Now RE5 will be ported on both PS and X. WTF??? PS started RE & it was us PS players that made it so popular and now X players get OUR game same goes for the DMC series. Finaly Monster Hunter 3... Bad enough MH2 was never released in north America  on PS2. now I'm resorted to fighting huge monsters on my small PSP screen. Man I was looking foward to going online playing it on my 46' HD with my friends back in Montreal. Crapcom sucks hard. The Wii is terible for graphics & it's gamers are dumb kids. All they'll be doing online is upswinging each other yelling Wiii...                 I will be honest I bought my 80GB PS3 & worked my butt off for my T.V in anticipation for MH3. It's the BEST & most original online game that I've ever played. F*** YOU CAPCOM....-,-

I am greatly disappointed with Capcom. First for stopping the online play for Monster Hunter on PS 2. Second, for not producing MH 2 for North America on the PS 2. It's upsetting that the only way I can play MH 2 is on PSP and playing on a small screen is a bit of a turn off. I want to hunt monsters on a big screen.....that's why I bought a big screen TV. Third, taking MH 3 away from LOYAL Playstation buyers. My question is WHY? I know that the PS 3 is more expensive, but if we all remember......consumers first thought PS one and PS 2 were expensive coming from NES and Sega. As we all seen the Playstation sales outsold all other platforms.  I know the PS 3 is having a bit of a slow start, but with HDTV, High Def becoming more popular.  I believe the PS 3 sales will pick up and the consumers will see once again why Playstation systems will remain on top. When that happens, I'm sure some developers will wish they would have stayed with PS 3. The Majority of the Monster Hunter fans are an older crowd.......The majority of the Wii users are little children. I really don't see moving MH 3 to Wii as a smart marketing move. I personally don't know of anyone older then 12 that actually plays on the Wii. So Capcom...do the math!!!  I work in the Cable business and as I set up cable in the homes of customers, I rarely come across customers that actually own a Wii. So if the Wii are outselling the other platforms, where are they? Now I know I'm only one person, but I'm sure many others would agree......Leave the Wii for the small children and keep Monster Hunter for the serious gamers who INVEST money into their gaming system. Now Capcom, I appreciate the apology but I don't see myself purchasing a Wii just for MH 3, even though I'm a Big Monster Hunter Fan. Why would I purchase a Wii when I own a PS 3, that would be senseless and a big waste of money!!!
