Currently the PlayStation 3 sits firmly at the 2nd place position in Japanese console sales. Being outsold by the Nintendo Wii by a margin of 4 to 1, Sony is looking for the right content that may close the gap or better yet, drive PS3 sales past the Wii in the region. LittleBigPlanet, a PlayStation 3 exclusive developed by Media Module, could be the veiled story of success for the PlayStation 3.
Last month at the Tokyo Game Show, a huge range of titles for the PS3 were shown. However, LittleBigPlanet in particulat stood out to Wedbush Morgan analyst Pachter:
"Each game appears to be well positioned to resonate with the Japanese audience," when taling about LittleBigPlanet, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Assassin’s Creed, "...We think that LittleBigPlanet will be a console seller in Japan."
LittleBigPlanet is an inimitable game that puts emphasis on creation and user distribution similar to websites such as Youtube. The game allows players to expand their minds to create challenging environments with obstacles and goals and then allow other users within the LittleBigPlanet network to play through them. There is no set release date for LittleBigPlanet in Japan, however, the game is slated for release in the US in early 2008.
Stay with PlayStation Universe as we will bring you more information regarding LittleBigPlanet once it becomes available.

I hope it does, I cant wait for this game and espacially MGS4
lol yeah it could whenever they release the freakin game. :) TBA 2008?
psn id: gingo.... i can see this game boosting ps3 sales everywhere just because its a concept that appeals to everyone or nearly everyone
It'll sell systems, but ONLY if the PS3 gets the rumored price drop--there's lots of people that would love this game, but it won't make them spend $500 + tax.
as soon as that eye of judgment hits out there Ps3 prices will rock it up maybe into first in Japan
I know MGS4 would be a seller in japan but we would have to see if LBP is going to be too
LBP will sell consoles everywhere..
FTW Little Big Planet... Cannot wait!!
Maybe it will - but i know for sure in the uk and denmark will boost ps3 sales when socom confrontation is released - i know alot from socom 2 and they all wanna get a ps3 when S:C is out!!
If I don't own a PS3 by the time this game gets released, then this is the perfect reason to go out and buy one. Can't wait!
Where will LBP NOT help the PS3 sales??? This game will rock!
I'm getting tired of the whining about dropping the price. You cant fly to the moon in a tin can. Well, a system this sweet shouldnt be a welfare handout. If you cant afford it after all this time since the release then get to work. The PS2 can tide people over for a while longer till they feel they can afford to buy one. Tell the near 6million people who have purchased one that it costs too much. What do you think their response will be? The same thing has been said after every single gaming console has been released. Tell me when has a gaming console ever been as loaded with features? Games will come, systems will fly out the stores.
This game is as innovative as they get.And then some
I really hope this turns out to be a gem. Unfortunately beautiful games (like Ico) and cute but supremely clever games (like Cookie & Cream (PAL regions Kuri Kuri Mix)) never seem to sell very well. People look at the cover and see some cute characters and write the game off as being for kids. People need to start looking beyond the cover.
It really has to again as the article states "resonate" with the Japanese Market. Though I am uncertain whether the same impact will follow with Europe and the US. Time will tell of course. Lets see what people can come up with in this game.
defenetly boosts ps3 sale :D
