Earlier in the year it was revealed that David Jaffe, the creative director for both God of War and God of War II would be taking a departure from SCEA to form his own gaming company based in Utah. Despite his absence, Jaffe remains closely linked with the Santa Monica team whom is currently working on a God of War III.
His influence behind the God of War brand stretches far enough for his touch to be felt on the project, despite him not even being in the offices. During his stay at SCEA, Jaffe drew up a “master plan” for God War that would encompass 3 titles with the final appearing on the PS3. In an exclusive interview with GameDaily Biz, he placed detail on his ideas:
"I can tell you that I have, what I consider, a phenomenal story for God of War III. When I was a Sony employee, we were exploring going down that road, and it probably was so big that it would have had to have been broken up into three parts and the actual franchise wouldn't come to an end until we had the third one made on PS3. There are certainly ideas for gameplay and for story, but I'm just not in that position anymore. In the best case scenario, I can freeze time, have 72 hours in a day and I could magically beam myself over to Santa Monica and back home to San Diego in time for dinner, then yeah, I would, if they would have me, I'd love to be involved with that title."
Jaffe also debunks speculation that he might make a return to SCEA to help complete the GOW franchise, stating, "With the way it stands right now, there are just too many things getting in the way of me doing that so I have my notes, people at Sony have my notes, and I've pitched them to them. They seem to like them. How much of that ends up in God of War III is certainly not my guess."
God of War III is a confirmed PlayStation 3 exclusive with a likely release in 2009. As it stands, GOW III will be the final in the trilogy, but because of the tremendous success if the series, there could be more GOW titles for the PS3 in some way or form. Perhaps, David Jaffe would lend his helping mind with that if possible.

well until then weve got god of war chain of olympus comnig out in just a few months that should keep us going on our psps till 2009.

Why did Jaffe have to leave??He did a great job with the first GoW.Well i hope the new team behind this great game now will leave us jaw breaking as Cory did with GoW2.Go for it Sony
They said likely release 2009, settle down i think it will come out winter 2008.
Also i doubt Jaffe will help make the game, he said that he left "Master Plans" with Sony. He wouldnt mind if Santa Monica Studios used them, if they want they can, and he really wants them to.
I read the interview and it's a great read. Also the PSP god of war is coming soon so that will tie us over.
It would have been nice to have Jaffe hand-ons with this last installment of GOW on the PS3. But it is a comfort to know that at least he left the Master Plan behind to help guide them to its conclusion.
2008 and 07
As much as I love this franchise, i'd still like to see some of the new stuff Jaffe has up his sleeves.
I suppose I should play GOW and GOWII huh? I don't know why I never did,just one of those games I never got around too.Any negatives about them.
