EA giving away free game for delay in guitar replacement

Posted on December 3rd, 2007 at 04:24 EDT

Since the release of Rock Band, one if these years’ biggest titles, many gamers have been experiencing technical difficulties regarding the guitar that came packed in the bundle.

One of the more common problems is that after a while, the guitar stops registering down strums, after only a few hours of usage. Since then EA has released a patch in an attempt to fix the problem, though users have still reported errors.

With the patch being a failure, EA is sending out replacement guitars for those who request one, however, more problems arose there as EA has been quite slow in issuing out these replacements.

So in common goodwill business practices, Electronic Arts has issued a letter to the fans apologizing for the slow rate of mailing out replacement guitars. In this letter they also reveal something that may shock a few people, especially since this is coming from EA. The letter reads as follows:

Greetings Rocker,

“Congratulations on your purchase of Rock Band!

After reviewing our records, we see that your recent request for a replacement guitar has been subject to an unacceptably long delay due to a late shipment from our manufacturer.

By the time you receive this, your replacement guitar should be on its way to you. However, the Rock Band team is committed to providing a world-class customer experience and we do not believe we have met this commitment in connection with your request. As a token of our appreciation for your patience and understanding, we will be offering you a FREE EA game. Details will follow shortly.

We are sorry if your first experience with Rock Band has not met your expectations. We hope our gift will show you how committed we are to your satisfaction.

Thank you,

The Rock Band Team

So Electronic Arts is going to give away a free game to those who has experienced a long wait in receiving their replaced guitar? It comes to great speculation as to which game specifically they are intended to give away for free. However, they must do something to maintain goodwill with their consumers.

More as it breaks.

holy-molie. way to own up. it's screwed up that the guitars were failing in the first place but to see them compensate us gamers who ponyed up the money for this game is unusually satisfying

lol I wonder how many people will jump on the HATE EA bandwagon anyway, and  with said bandwagon, how many wagonees actually know why they're there. But anyway, that's pretty cool of EA to do something like that. Btw, lol@ comments 2 and 4 :P
