it aint rockstar who determines if EA buys them or not its T2 and it will sell to EA, either before or after GTA4

Rockstar can always pull out, they could all try and reacquire their on studios, only problem is the loss of their name and need of money to start up again. Sony would happily offer them shelter probably, give them jobs and not interfere with their work; they would probably give them loads of money for their projects too.

At least the majority of GTA IVs will be sold in the first month, before EA can snatch the revenue.

EA just wants some of the profits from GTA4, and that's why they want to buy Take2 as soon as possible. Maybe if EA had a better reputation for it's game titles and put more effort in their games then maybe I would support EA's decision to buy Take2. I still think that Take2 should remain independant.

It seems as if EA is trying to be a Monopoly and is buying out all of the smaller Game developers to try to take out as much competition as possible and increase it's own revenue. EA needs to work on it's game development before they even think about buying other game companies. I sure hope that EA's game Dead Space lives up to my expectations because that's the only game developed/published by EA that I've even thinking about buying.

EA you guys can go to because if your dumb control it GTA would never be the same again and no one will buy your crapy made GTA so dont come and try to ruin our favorite game just like you ruined your getto Army of Two game which sucked btw!!!!!

If the game involves ea, i'm less likely to buy it.

EA create $h*t games currently that are not Next Gen, so they will pull GTA into there last gen era.

Considering I wont be buying the game at launch, if EA does end up taking them over I will not be getting the game at all. It may be a great game, but I will not give EA one cent of my money untill they start making solid games .

EA has almost 2 billion dollars burning a hole in its pocket where Take-Two has less than 60 million in cash.  If EA wants to take over it seems to me like they will.  There won't be much that could be done to prevent it except maybe a competitor putting up a rival bid.

I dont think what this guy says carries any weight at all. He says "I do believe GTA IV will be an EA game. Whether it is the same game that it would have been under Take Two remains to be seen." when at this stage, changing publisher wouldnt make any difference to the final outcome of the game at all, 1 month away from release, it will be finishing, if not have already finished gold testing, and will be ready for manufacture and distribution. Theres no chance of GTA4 being under any form of influence from EA, thank god.

even if sony buys rockstar t2 has the licence of the franchise and i dont think sony is willing to paid billions for it like EA.

even if EA buys TakeTwo...I will still buy GTAIV since EA didn't do anything programming for it.  Any GTA game after that I wont buy.  The President of EA needs to understand that whatever game they touch ends up turning into a crap game or just soso.   They can buy out 10 companies if they want and no matter what they always have to put a hand in a game to make is even more crap.

I really hope one day EA bites the dust but I doubt that will ever happen.

LIke many of you have mentioned,  It would be nice if R* bailed on EA and took refuge under Sony, and I could totally see that feesible. While T2 owns the right to R* they under a contract I belive. I rember reading an article saying that R* could pull out from them if they wanted to under their contract in 2009. I dont know the deal that EA and T2 have entered in and weither that would affect T2's and R* agreement. All I know, is that EA is evil and produce crap a** games. Lets just hope that R* can legally get out of EA asap.

Rockstar pulling out and taking shelter under Sony's wing. Sounds about right especially when we already know that Rockstars next franchise is PS3 exclusive. Any one agree?

Oh my god how many more times!!!!! Take Two do NOT own Rockstar, they just publish their games. Rockstar are 100% independent. EA really want Take Two to cut down on the competition for their Amercian Sports games. Its as simple as that, if they could convince Rockstar to stick around and allow them to publish their games they'd be happy, but it's not the most important thing for EA. Besides EA publish games for another UK based independant in Criterion games the makers of the Burnout series.  Its not all doom and gloom.

now i hate EA as much as the next gamer (especially PS3 ones) but as long as EA dont get involved with any development then it should be ok. Look at rock band that seems to have gone down well (havnt got it here in UK yet) so as long as EA do what they are half-decent at, publishing, then we should be ok. Fingers crossed.

If you get the chance to read the latest in Game Informer, EA is having internal talks about console manufacturing.  Just think about it, EA makes a console and then all EA games become exclusive to that console!!!  Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft won't stand a chance against that move.  Game Informer also talks about Rockstars latest PS3 exclusives.  EA stands to gain alot of money from these exclusives and the exclusive contracts with Sony.  The only thing stopping EA from making a console is the fact that EA thinks Sony's PS3 is going to sell like crazy over the next year and EA will gain from it without having to do anything.  One thing is for sure EA will eventually make a console and then gaming as we know it will be over.  We will only have one console to choose from and it will be the EABox.  Hostile takeovers just sound wrong to me.  Its like someone buying my home out from under me or just moving in and taking it.  Someone has to stop them before its too late!!!

I just Hope EA will not get GTA, Look what happen to the 007 James Bond, since they took it over the games have been lame. Just put it this way, if you have no competition why would you try hard to make a good game. EA is turning into a Monopoly and someone needs to stop them. Before we have no good games to play and force to play whats left.

GTA4 is releasedon 30th april EA would be damn lucky to get any chance of getting it pubbed out in time.

As this says IF EAwere to get anywhere with T2 buyout they could delay the release of GTA4, youknow dump their logos and ADs every where in it.

Wow, I can't believe you actually asked readers of PSU if they thorught EA was "taking this too far". Everyone here has a reason to hate EA one way or the other. and this just adds a whole new reason we can all come together on. They're effing with one of the most popular games in existance trying to make a hostile take over of the comapny that makes GTA would tick off any fan. You can tell it's only for money because they want some of the GTA pie after that they'll dismantle 2K sports because they're the closest competitor to their god awful Madden franchaise and slowly ground up Rockstar and feed them to their dog.

I still think the smartest thing in the world for T2 to do would be to sell R* it's idependance and then allow them to choose their developer once EA gobbles up T2 (if they still want it after R* leaves that is). :D
