Fallout 4 on the horizon

Posted on August 4th, 2008 at 08:21 EDT

During a European press event this week, Bethesda's Pete Hines detailed the company’s commitment to releasing further titles in the Fallout franchise now that the developer has acquired the license to action RPG series.

"The whole reason we went out and acquired the license and that we now own Fallout is that we clearly intended to make more than one," said Hines. "This is not something we're going to do once and then go away and never do it again."

Hines continued, explaining how Bethesda plans to use the license to develop future Fallout titles like they handle their Elder Scroll franchise.

"When that will be or how long that will be god only knows, but we acquired it specifically because we wanted to own it and develop it and work on it like we do with The Elder Scrolls," he said.

The latest instalment in the Fallout series, Fallout 3, is currently scheduled for release on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC later this year.

I might get Fallout if the 3rd person gameplay is good. Oblivion's 3rd person gameplay was horrible; I was pretty much force to play in first person view. That is the reason why I sold Oblivion.
