In July of last year, Ubisoft announced the expected sequel to Far Cry on the PC, with surprisingly no mention of a console counterpart.
After some speculation about a possible PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version of Far Cry 2, Ubisoft has finally officially announced Far Cry 2 for both consoles. However, they withheld any specific details regarding the PS3 or 360 version.
The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version are slated for a release in the fiscal year of 2008-2009. So it seems the game is still far from finished on the consoles, while the PC version is to be released later Q1 2008. Stay tuned for more news on this Africa-bound FPS soon.

I have never really played a farcry game yet, i hope it will be good, because it looks cool.
No offense, but Far Cry needs to die. Too many spin-offs. Not enough innovation in the process other than Instincts.

far cry ws only one of the best and most impressive looking pc games ever created! Its graphics were far ahead of its time making near doom 3 quality over a year ahead. And its mostly outdoors, which doom couldnt even accomplish a year and a half later.
this game is something to follow.
with crysis selling so weak on pc. Ubisoft learnt from EA's mistake and now are doing the right thing, but the only way they can pull this multiplatform stuff off is if all versions are equal. Also this game looks so far ahead of anything else out there. All i can say is. DETAIL!!!!!!!!!!!

When i was at "Igromir expo" in Moscow, i asked producer of the Far Cry 2 about FC2 on consoles, and he sad "never, we making games only for PC" - it means that FC2 for consoles come from another team.
It's a very good game. If they make a sequel with visuals equal in quality to Uncharted it probably will be worth the purchase.
The PC version was simply fantastic. CryTek is a company worth every penny. You guys will want to pick this one up for sure.

whatever, i just hope they use the ps3 version as the lead version in the development of this game, just as EA with Burnout Paradise.
