Those of you excited for a little teaser into the online world of Metal Gear Solid 4 have finally been given it. We realize that that is pretty much everyone, so that makes this even sweeter. Konami has released on their Japanese website, a screenshot of 5 different maps that will be appearing in the Metal Gear Solid 4 Online starter pack.
Ambush Alley
A corner of a war-shattered town littered with obstacles, its central intersection branching off into side streets.
Gronznyj Grad
The now abandoned weapons factory that housed the Shagohod in Metal Gear Solid 3. Contains open areas offering unobstructed views as well as indoor and rooftop locations.
Midtown Maelstrom
This Middle Eastern battleground features avenues crisscrossed with alleyways.
Urban Ultimatum
Negotiate buildings of varying height in this city under siege.
Blood Bath
A kill house consisting of both surface and underground areas.
As you can see, the majority of these maps look prime for close-quarters combat and will result in a lot of lives being taken and blood being shed. The detail and texture work appears to be promising as well. It's safe to say there will be more maps implemented after release, which means we can obviously expect more than just these five. Fortunately, these 5 look like they'll tide us over for a decent about of time.
Konami has also let it be known that expansion packs that will carry extra maps, characters, and other features will actually be released periodically. The date lineup for these releases will be announced at a later date, but you can expect one to say the least.

I've seen a leaked video of the top stage. Close-quarters combat indeed! Also roh_sik in the video it seemed to be right on par with COD4 also adding on the fly weapon adjustments during a match. Better then only being limited to the pre-made classes you put together but are only able to change in the lobby. I can't wait for this.
sweet getting wireless in my house for this
i get bored after a minute of playing cod4 for 360. but on ps3.. i can play it for hours. i havent played any game longer than cod4. ive played it pretty much everyday since the release date. and i hope it will be like this with MGS4 and KILLZONE II
lets see if this online can beat COD4.

How is this online going to work? Will it just be like the single player game but online in a free for all kinda stylee... Do you play as snake or someones else? Could be really interesting!!
Am I the only one that noticed half of these maps are on the MGS3 online? They are just better looking and slightly bigger now. I'm not complaining, just saying. :)
There should be some mgs2 and mgs1 maps as well.

These 5 levels will be a nice addition to the huge single player experience. I look forward to playing online with some of my buds.

the levels look great but only 5? umm...i dont think that will tide us over for long. hopefully there will be more at launch but if there isnt then, IN MY OPIONION, thats pretty lame that they under supply us with maps so we get bored of them quicker then expect use to buy more/ the rest.
pretty much cant wait for this game, these levels are going to be great, the stealth king of gaming will return, just watch your backs!
