i agree with galaxyman's comment on this one it seems like whenever a developer or someone in that nature gives their opinion about the ps3 that you guys don't like you insult that person cause he didnt say something good about the ps3. if the guy doesnt like the ps3 or 360 than thats his problem dont' diss him cause criticised it. but we have to be thankful about him bringing orange box to the ps3 cause he really didn't have and that coul've been another loss for the ps3. at least give him some respect for making good games and at least bringing them on to ps3.

@ baker_44, your an idiot, can't afford either of the systems? dude this guy is the creator of VALVe Corporation, which created one of the best games of all time (Half-Life 1 & 2) I think he has earned the respect with the Source Engine that HL2 and Counter-strike runs on, on PC to criticize Sony and Microsoft. Either way, I wouldn't be surprised if its a bad port, but VALVe usually delivers....buggy software. Glitches Ahoy! I can't wait to see the glitches in Portal and HL2.

those who expect great things for the PS3 orange box release should cross their fingers, didnt valve did only the xbox360 version and out sourced the PS3 version to EA (yeah, there goes a chance of a good port)? I wouldnt be spending money on this game, at least til the reviews are out.

So he doesn't like developing for consoles?  That's $62.99 that just got freed up in my wallet.  I have no time for developers' excuses and he just convinced me not to buy the Orange Box set.  I understand that devewloping for consoles is different and can be challenging but to diss a console because of it only reveals your ignorance and incompetence.  Oh well!  I guess I can worry about other games instead of this one now.

omg you guys need to take a midol!! i love my ps3 but lets be honest...it is hard to program for. he was just saying the obvious. he prefers what he is used to doing. he didn't say the ps3 was underpowered or overrated he just said it was hard. was he crying a little .....yeah....does he even do any of the programing himself....no....he has people working on it......he was just trying to justify his delayed release...which even Sony has problems meeting their promised release dates so back the heck off. he is delivering probably one of the greatest game franchises ever to the ps3 in a five game in one box set.....we are getting the greatest steal ever with this deal so shut up! you don't like it deal with it...the ps3 isn't perfect....for all the great advances and power the cell arcitecture gives us we have to trade off some other performance flaws because it is completely different than anything these programers have ever written for. there is a learning curve and we will suffer at first but omg will it pay off in a year or so. if you aren't happy too bad because you won't be buying any games for awhile if you refuse to buy a game that gets delayed or says the console is difficult. YOU are missing out! not the rest of the fair minded people like myself that understands and will buy this game on release day. i love my ps3...and I love these guys for bringing a great game to it. do I love shoddy games blamed on how hard it is....heck no...but this game won't be shoddy...it should be brilliant. why don't we save our criticism for after it is released if it deserves it. games like madden and splinter cell....not ones that the makers don't kiss sony's butt. alot of people don't like the ps3 but they know it is where the money will lie so they will go for it....otherwise it is much easier making cheeseburgers for 360 and pc than steak for the ps3. i like my steak...and i am going to buy this game when it is launched.

Why am I not surprised. He spouted this same nonsense before. It's funny. You will see some devs coplain about this or that but the devs that have brought some amazing stuff to light in this console generation, are not complaining about consoles. In forums I come across PC game devs who complain and console devs seem to say "There is more than one way to skin a cat".

I would say he knows what he is talking about. If you want to find out how hard it is to develop a game for PS3, you ask a developer. This guy is one of the best. whether or not you think he is making excuses or not- there is one main point. That being that NObody likes to develop for the PS3 so far. thats why all the games are crapola. at least we can all play our 360s until the good games come out next christmas, right?

This is a little off topic hear but, PC gaming sucks. its so expensive and risky. you go out and buy a game but what do you know, you have to buy a 100-something graphics card, free up a bunch of space somehow, or just spend a butt load of money on an alienware, THEN you don't even know if the program will run on you computer or not. ugh. i hate it. sorry, gotta defend the consoles.

Ok first off I agree with the minority in these replies, its pretty sad the comments coming out about this guy's wait. Seriously, its pretty sad. That being said I think he has a sorry excuse on why he hates consoles, especially the PS3 being hard to code for. It's like EA saying they did not have enough time to properly code Madden 08 for 60 fps, while games like Heavenly Sword and Haze are being made for the PS3. That being said sometimes you've gotta learn something new. I'm sure people that coded for Atari or the NES thought the new systems we're hard, but they coded for em, learned it, and moved on. This guy needs to accept that. Sadly while PC gaming is cool, I was a die hard Starcraft fan, but it is a major pain to have to buy new hardware every time a new FPS comes out, especially if your into it competively.

PS3 or Xbox 360's are not going to match the PC in terms of specs, flexibility, upgradeability & platform stability. There are millions of people who are able to work on PC's so its easier to develop for. His points are absolutely valid. This guy that some of you seem to be laughing at happens to be the person who made three of the worlds top 100 games of all time. Two of these games are in the top 20 so I'd trust his judgment before some nobody posters on a PS3 forum - no offense people but that the truth OK. This guy your taking shots at can spell - so he's ahead of most of you already. He can also program, manage a production team, he can run a successful multi-million dollar business (one that he founded)... Gabe Newell was a multi millionaire from software development & savvy investment before he even started Valve Corporation. I think this guy has credentials. And while you are knocking his weight and “bad looks” should note that he is married to a absolutely stunning woman. Lucky BSTRD!
