Guitar Hero IV in 2008?

Posted on February 6th, 2008 at 15:05 EDT

The Guitar Hero franchise has been a hit success and the latest title has been flying off the shelves as the game proves to still be in great demand after being released a little over two months ago. Although Activision has put together a great formula for success, they are not ready to sit around and watch, or so says rock group, The Answer.

The unlikely announcement of the next Guitar Hero game came from the band after being picked out at the Marché international de l'édition musicale (or Midem conference) held at the end of January. Their song "Never Too Late" was picked by Activision and their panel of experts to be featured in Guitar Hero IV. Over 200 songs were submitted and 20 were picked including the one from The Answer.

The Answer are obviously excited to have their song in the game as the sales of the game and its downloadable content have boosted featured band's sales incredibly.

"This is a tremendous honour and privilege for both The Answer and the Alberts label," said James Cassidy, UK boss of music label Alberts. "With a new album due later this year we look forward to taking the band to a whole new level of international success."

Guitar Hero IV is expected to be released at the end of 2008.

The problem is it does not take too long to out play them, where you hate all the songs, because you have heard them to death.  So it is nice to see a new one with new songs, but thish is crazy.  Too soon, and I don't have much interest in a forth one.

I would buy another game if it has like 70 songs, c´mon, it will cost 50 -60 bucks, for DLC each song is 2.99, that would be about 200 bucks for as many songs, DO THE MATH!!!

I say bring it on... just make the ps2 titles playable on ps3.

I'm not buying it, or any other Guitar Hero came. Ever. They completely screwed over the people who actually got it on it's ORIGINAL SYSTEM, and Activision just wrecked everything. I'm sticking with Rock Band, because they don't even need a sequel, they just release the new songs people want. I hate Activision for what they did to Guitar Hero, and I'm not investing into something to be screwed over for, like they did.

i sold my guitar hero 3 to my roomate for 160$ cuz i bought RB and it totally destroys GH , i know there are some hardcore GH fans will get pi$$ed but wutever , RB has wayyy better songs plus new songs every week! and on top of that half the songs on GH i have never even heard of and they suck! i dont wana play songs from nobody bands especially when they called the game Legends of Rock! activision could have at least put  more then like 3 legends!

They need to stop the cycle of annual sequels of games if anything they should focus on bimonthly DLC for games like Guitar Hero.

Bring on more GH games and get rid of DLC.  I'm sick of seeing people pissing away $3 a song for what should be a full game.   I don't mind paying $60 for a bunch of songs.  $60 = 20 PSN songs.  No wasted hard drive space and you can take them anywhere. And you can still keep your guitar.  And the guitars are about due for a little redesign. Nothing major just make the buttons a bit bigger.  Maybe put the two buttons somewhere easier to reach.

---

I just hope they keep a decent mix of metal in there.  Once Fallout Boy appears in GH, I'm done. Forever. I'll go to RockBand.  From what I've seen, RB has a bit better selection of songs, even if their guitar feels really loose. Plus my girlfriend is good at the drums.

Rock Band is definitely where it's at. Infernoreaper, having to change out disks to play different songs = lame. Bring on the DLC. Rock Band's is only $2 and some are only $1.
