Get ready to Surf with the Alien, as epic-shredding legend Joe Satriani will be gracing the ears and plastic guitars of Guitar Hero and Rock Band players everywhere.
According to Guitar World Magazine (original name), EA and Activision have licensed two famous Satch tracks, Surfing with the Alien, and Satch Boogie. Unfortunately, no release date, pricing or even which games they’ve been licensed for has been released.
For argument sake though, let’s say that each company ‘owns’ one song. Surfing with the Alien, perhaps Mr Satriani’s most famous guitar wailing track is an epic piece of complicated guitar work, which would be best suited for Guitar Hero.
Satch Boogie on the other hand is a funky ‘dance’ piece that has fantastic guitar and drum pieces, with a bit of cymbol clashing for singers with nothing to do, and therefore would be pretty damn good on Rock Band.
Joe Satriani is considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time, and taught other great rock legends such as Steve Vai and Kirk Hammet. The two songs detailed above are from his best selling album, Surfing with the Alien, with a picture of Marvel comics Silver Surfer on the cover (hence the name). The entire album would be fantastic as one of Rock Bands album downloads.
Stay tuned.

@Stovich - agreed, great song. Seriously though, it's about damn time. Let's see some more actual "guitar heroes" and save the crappy new emo bands for Rock Band please. How about some Paul Gilbert, Steve Morse, Robin Trower, Zappa, Trey Anastasio, Steve Howe, John Petrucci Robert Fripp...
yes its awesome, Joe is a god, but just 2 tracks from a guitar solo back catalouge of hundreds ? come on get em all on there, there what Guitar hero's was made for :)
