With Gran Turismo 5 Prologue slated to be a downloadable title just like Warhawk, a lot of people were curious as to how big of a file this would be, particularly those who purchased the smaller 20GB HDD and have yet to upgrade (Especially if they bought the likes of Warhawk, Devil May Cry 4, and now were planning on getting their hands on Prologue via download) Well, rest easy because the game is only 1870 MBs.
We're aware it sounds a tad small for a game featuring so much, but there is a lot of reasoning behind this. Apparently most of the cinematics are left on the server until you're ready to view them via GT TV. This obviously will save an ample amount of disk space as it will give you the option to download it or not when you reach that point.
According to eurogamer.com, once you finish an event fully, it will give you the option to head over to GT TV section to download the optional cinematic that goes along with it.
Sony did confirm that the cinematics would come included with the Blu-ray format of the racing simulator, so no need to worry about downloads if you took the time to walk to the store to pick it up.
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue hits the European PlayStation Network next Thursday on March 27. So its only a little over a week away before you can finally get behind the wheel of a new Gran Turismo game and, unlike the past circumstances, you Europeans will get first dibs.

That's a fine size i guess. Lucky i have the 80G PS3
im safe with my 60gb ps3 then. has american store already got it or are we gettin it first????
Cant wait! Anyone know if the Logitech Driving Force EX will work with it?
I was thinking that the download for GT5 Prologue would be over 5GB in size at least, but I'm buying the Blu-Ray disc version anyways.
@ Fiddlesworth Totally agree with you on the increase of Blu-ray's capacity being so beneficial with data intensive game like this. GT5 WILL be a monster and soon enough, we'll be playing games on 4-layer 100GB discs. Good for us we won't have to upgrade :-)
it's gonna be a lot bigger after you install.. the install file is simply compressed.
@PSN_pauls it states right there at the end of the article the you Euros get it first ;-)
Even though the intitial download file is small, you know that all the other stuff is gonna take up space. I think I will just buy the blue ray at the store.
i upgraded to a 250 gig HDD :) i can do basically whatever i want, lol
psn id: gingo.... i just opted for the blu ray mainly because it was cheaper and its another box to add to my collection but i'm glad they have kept the download small for 20 giggers sakes
10 days... Just 10 days. I'll be home on that day after a vaccation in Germany! So, I'll gues I'll play some glorious HD racing after that! 8D
Well... having to download constantly could be a pain when internet is down... Also, can we do predownloads? I would rather just have it all on my console, I gots a 60gb so whent the real version comes, I can jsut delete it.
I'll be buying the Blu-Ray but w/e :D
Wow, we are getting it first, I cant beleive it. I have 30G left on my 60G so..
Im still going to buy the blu-ray version!
good to see that sometims in europe we get things first, but that's not gonna make me buy it plus I prefere to have my games on disk
Cant wait for this, its been a long time since GT4 graced my playstation. And downloads dont concern me as i always get the Blu.
i'm buy blue-ray version too he he i like watchin CG movies :D anyone knows how can i buy 250GB HHD to my ps3 and what company and names i have now only 10 GB left mine is 60GB ps3 and almost 22 games i bought he he XD
