War torn streets in SOCOM: ConfrontationA quickly removed Sony PlayStation Network website has revealed that the long awaited feature of In-Game XMB may be coming to PS3 consoles sooner than later.
With a plethora of features such as in-game messaging and background custom in-game soundtracks missing, PS3 owners have vocalized their displeasure with the lack of In-Game XMB. But one keen-eyed PS3 owner was surfing the PlayStation Network portion of the US PlayStation website and found an interesting detail. A screenshot of the candid information revealed:
"Friends & Messaging: Talk to others during game play, say hello anytime you’re online, or have a video chat with an Eye camera, USB Camera, or headset."
The wording appears to be very much straightforward; “during game play” and “anytime you’re online” being the key phrases. Although some games have addressed these features in limited fashion, there has yet to be an official announcement from Sony. Stay tuned to next week's GDC as Sony may just be ready to announce this feature there.

Uhhhh i dont think this is right I've seen that on the playstation site months ago and all of a sudden someone says its just around the corner i dont expect to have in game xmb until home releases or aftewards..sorry

I really want it, so I can have the custom soundtrack, but this artical really doesn't say anything other then they have not forgoten about it. Souds good though.

Major details perhaps? ahh cmon its about ****ing time! I'm actually quite suprised at how 'little' PlayStation Network doesnt offer. I was at least hoping something along the lines of a chat room for example, but then again I'm sure there aren't that many people who own keyboards. do we really have to wait until 'Home'
Hopefull Phil jumps into some In-Game Xmb during some Resistance 2 at GDC! Now wouldnt that be insane.
some people are waiting to buy a ps3 for upcoming exclusives such as MGS4 or KZ2, but i'm waitng on in-game xmb. all i want is custom in-game soundtracks.

We're about halfway to MGS4 on 360 status for this rumor.
The first game I really like is BurnOut - Paradise...you can check your friendslist and write to them in the game. But overall the "ingame-xmb" is missing and I want it!

You know the GDC is about GAME DESIGN, why would they disscuss the system's operating system at a convention where they're supposed to be talking about video game development?
Stop assuming people, At best we MIGHT, MIGHT, MIGHT get ingame messaging. to assume we're getting custom soundtracks anytime soon is just asking for dissapointment and you;re just going to bltch and moan at sony when it dosent happen.

It it happens, GREAT! If not right away, well, that's okay too. I'm enjoying DMC4 too much right now to really care either way.
In game XMB and custom soundtrack, and the XBOTS wont have anything on the PS3.

Wow, I'm shocked this made it as news. I mean common ...."Talk to others during game play".....leaves its deliever method kinda vague.
Now if it said "talk to others during game play by voice or by test message"......or something to that effect, sure....but right now I'm pretty darn certain their just talking about the in game voice capabilities.

I hope so. I mean, MLB08 the show is said to have ingame custom soundtracks right? That drops in early march if I'm not mistaken... so... meaning we could have it in less than a month? :D

I can see them pulling a PSP stunt..releasing a new model and making ingame XMB only compatable with that !!! :(

i really do hope that this is true, been waiting soooooo long for this. I bet you US guys get it before us UK and EU. but still as long as they release it soon ill be happy.
