LittleBigPlanet US boxart revealedSony’s PlayStation Portable has gained the upper hand on Nintendo in the weekly Japanese hardware battle, according to the latest data from Media Create.
The PSP sold a total of 57, 651 units for the week ended March 16, outpacing both the Nintendo Wii and DS, which sold 55,845 and 53,266 units each, respectively.
Meanwhile, the PlayStation 3 saw a decline in sales, dropping 6,000 units from the previous week, though it was still enough to surpass the PlayStation 2, which dropped below the 10,000 mark.
Lastly, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 also experienced a dip in sales, selling only 1,744 units during the same period.

PSP is doing nicely, nicely now! Just need PSTriple to catch on up..
I know it's a no-brainer to say that games sell systems, but this is true in Japan unlike anywhere else in the world! They will ignore a system until that killer app comes. I mean, the PSP was in the dumps (for YEARS) until the Japanese version of FF:Crisis Core hit. Add a couple more titles and it flrts with #1 ans #2 on weekly sales charts?! I guess that's what will happen with the PS3 as well...
If FF: Crisis Core was the catalyst for PSP sales, imagine what a FFVII remake would do for PS3 sales....
This sales spike is prolly due to the new found software piracy for the PSP! Just like what the DS has been experiencing!! (I don't think they've released any huge PSP titles in the past two weeks!)
Im just happy to see that xbox360 in last place. That's all that matters to me. I think it was pretty dumb for them to just drop they're old xbox and not make any new games for it. Not a wise choice.

calling people idiots is not the best way to get something you want, stop being so immature. Japan releases their info on a weekly basis. Europe has no offical sales figures to the public and North American numbers come out on a month to month basis. Why don't you start paying attention to that and instead of insulting the people that work hard to bring you the news, keep you mouth shut or go somewhere else. Its that easy.

The PS2 is still outselling the Xbox 360 in Japan, ha!! Oh my god. Microsoft might as well pull the 360 out of the Japanese market, the Japanese obviously don't care about it. Sony consoles are always going to do well in Japan anyways. When the Japanese see the 360, they probably instantly turn their heads just because it's a American console, plus the 360's exclusive games aren't that diverse and a lot of Japanese developers develop for the PS3.
Wow. And the PSP even outsold the Wii in Japan... the only reason the PSP probably outsold the Wii is because of the "Wii shortages". I bet once the Wii shortages end (if they ever end) the Wii will become literally non-existent. I still think that Nintendo is holding back production regardless of what Nintendo says because they want to maintain the interest in the Wii around the world because if not, they will get overshadowed completely by the 360 and PS3.
ps3 sold 7 times the amount of xbox's haha... damn, that's quite the margin :) Go PSP! Damn! That FF7 game has them flyin off the shelfs!
