IGN has posted up a new video interview with Resident Evil 5 producer, Jun Takeuchi, who takes the time to discuss a number of elements behind the highly anticipated survival horror outing.
Among the subjects discussed include the design philosophy behind main protagonist, Chris Redfield, where Takeuchi reveals the aim was to use a character model “that’s buffed up,” in turn allowing the developers to give Redfield a wider repertoire of moves.
Elsewhere, he also reiterates the main focus of the storyline, which as touched on in our recent trailer analysis, centres on the origins of the Progenitor Virus last detailed in 2002’s Resident Evil Zero.
Check out the interview yourself below.
Resident Evil 5 is due out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 by the end of Capcom's current fiscal year ending March 31, 2009.

this might give mgs4 a run for its money. it looks and sounds great but we will have to see which game is more groundbreaking
this might be the first resident evil I play....but whats always kind of disinterested me is the gears of war style stop and shoot system....just a personal preference, not talking ship..lol
I don't think it will give mgs4 a run. Because mgs4 is exclusive and utilizes ps3 power, and 50 gig blu ray. Where as this one will be held back by the 360, and it's dvd (unfortunately). I have been playing Resident Evil for a long time (like since PS1) and I will buy it no doubt.
this looks really promissing
I think the permise of both MGS4 and RE5 keep it from worrying about sales. Action horror vs. stealth shooter doesn't make much sense, like Burnout Paradise vs. NFS ProStreet.
If this game can out do RE4 we'd see two things: First a miracle that RE4 was beaten, two is that it took a team of people to take down Hideo Kojima's mind.
What do you mean by that?
