After receiving heavy criticism on its launch, The PlayStation 3 exclusive, Lair, has finally received some positive recognition from the media.
The International Film Music Critics Association announced their 2007 award winners, and this year was the debut of the award for Best Original Score for a Video Game or Interactive Media award, with the honor going to John Debney the composer of Lair's score. The IFMCA established this award because of the recognition of the increasing importance of music in gaming and gaming as an entertainment medium.
Although many critics claim that the gameplay is broken, so much so that a possible patch is in works to fix the controls, apparently a great score was wasted on a pretty average game. Since 59.99 USD is a pretty steep price to hear a soundtrack, luckily iTunes has added Lair's score to their library for gamers to get their fix for 50 USD less than the game at $9.99.

nice to see lair getting some acclaim if only for the sounds
and of course itunes is cashing in on it as well. just like guitar hero 3
We should be able to Download it or purchase it on the PSN.
PSU where have you been !!? You're forums are going mad about this ingame XMB rumour and you haven't even reported on it yet !!
I personally thought that Lair was a great game. The Sixaxis controls were just great for me but it took me about 30 minutes to get used to not using the Analog sticks for flight, but you can use the Analog sticks to control the dragon once you land on the ground. If the Sixaxis controls weren't mandatory in Lair, there is no doubt that it would have gotten a much higher score.
However, Lair was a pretty short game just like Heavenly Sword. Lair would have been better if it had free-roaming in the game and you could fly to your missions. But I do remember that Lair had some very good music in the game. I'm glad to hear that Lair has gotten recognized for something.
@AclayPS3
Yeah I also enjoyed Lair. I loved using the sixaxis controls in the game and actually felt they were better than the one in Warhawk. Also found the game short. Anyway the score on Lair was great and if you want there is one piece that you can download off the PS store for free.
I'm looking forward to Lair with the new controls.
I dont understand why everybody says lair has horrible graphics. I thought it had on of the best graphics in a game that I have ever seen.
I love the soundtrack for the game. And the controls were fine. People that sucked and are uncoordinated are the problem. :-D
FINALLY!!! am i the only one that loves this game??... and just because people suck at playing games doesnt make the game bad.....
(wtf the grafix werent horriable?????? why are so many of you shallow grafix whores.. witch in this case u shouldnt be becuase the grafix were literally amazing.. fuuckin cry babys and there poor gamer eyes... go rot)
and may i add this game had some of the most beautiful music ive ever heard in a game so it deff deserves this award 101%!!!
Wow, just heard the soundtrack on iTunes and the music was great! John Debney(Lair) and Greg Edmundson(Uncharted) should work together on video game soundtracks.
Lair sucked a.ss. It wasted my money, but its not the only game I have purchased for PS3 and regretted doing so. There are way more stinkers than decent ones.
Haha it's funny they say the controlls were "broken" but Lair was one of those games where you either loved it or hated it. For me, the graphics were awesome and I loved the ground battles but I couldn't get into the flying part (which is like, 90% of the game). But I'd think I'd pick it up if they puat analog controls into it.
psn id: gingo... i always thought the lair score was beautiful and epic but many people skipped by that and just critisised the gameplay rather than looking at the whole of the game
