How stupid can they be? this is arguably the most anticipated game for the ps3 for all of 08 and they delay it? Even if you dont care, this is a major hit for sony at least for the next 8 months.  The stupid programmers are probably working 4 hour days. this totally sucks....

 

It is very annoying, but if it's finished and as great as we think it'll be then that will be great for xmas '08!

Will people please stop over reacting until  an official statement has been made. So far only EGM and the sites repeating EGM's supposed date snafu, are saying this.

they should just stop announcing release dates for PS3 games. i understand its for the better but when arguably the top 3 PS3 games to look forward to next year (LBP, MGS4, KZ2) all get pushed back its just flat out frustrating, but i'll live becuz theres still a handful of AAA titles due out between now and April. But PS3 devs, in the future please try and be just a little bit more realistic with your release dates.

no, this is NOT an official statement so there may be some hope, but if its true and they dont say anything more about its delay, i think it would be right to say "has anyone noticed that almost every game that gets delayed, the company who makes it has never actually explained WHY they delayed it?" i was looking forward to this to, PS-DELAY-3 its sad but wat can we do...................

They are delaying it in order to make it SUPERB; by how the PS3 sales are now they dont need to rush the game. Sony is trying to make this game good enough that makes the PS3 sell more than the wii in a weekly basis.    With MGS4 they will be outselling the 360

A lot of you guys are really just over reacting. So LBP gets delayed, who cares? We'll all be playing so many more games untill then you'll end up forgetting about it untill it comes out and you'll be like, "Oh yeah, I guess It's fall already." I mean we have Killzone 2, Haze, Burnout Paradise, GTA IV, DMC4, Tekken 6, Soul Caliber 4, MGS4...I could go on and on. The point is, It's just ONE of our 08 games being delayed, we still have PLENTY more to play in the mean time.

I've forementioned it a few months ago that the likelihood of playing this game won't be until fall next year along with KZ2. And Home...probably not until mid next year with some technical difficulties requiring patches asap!  AAA titles aren't AAA games until they play like it! Well, atleast late spring/summer is a season to look forward to...in the US!!! 8E

I don't think this was done unless there was serious problems that ran across the games development. And I mean serious problems.

Not exactly NEWs...this has been floating around for at least a week...also, it is EGM not SONY saying this so grain of salt please.

I also think PSU should have slapped some kind of rumor sticker to the article's title. A lot of people read the title and don't bother actually reading the article.

Well why not take a risk and spread the release dates out evenly, and see more money from one person (Being the fact, that one person "being the consumer" would of gotten tired of the other game and wants a new one. Just MAYBE thats what it might be, but hey i don't know, im just a regular guy who thinks the delay of games are due to PR purposes. It would be creepy if its true.

luckily for us, EGM isnt exactly the best source, so... there's still a chance it will come out earlier.

Good news. Then i can wait to buy a PS3 until next fall. Then Sony might drop the price again to 299:) And it is a GREAT christmas game that will drive sales like crazy world wide

For people complaing about delayed titles I want you to rack you memory and remember the titles that came out early on the PS3.... there are a few. Chances are most wouldn't know it because they are only focused on the negative. breathe people the world isn't over. Its best to release a finished product because if they didn't we would probably get another thread on here about how games shouldn't have patches and ship incomplete.

 

You cant have it both ways. You want quality, give the devs time. You want product now? don't complain when  it has to recieve numerous patches.

There is still a lot of turbulence at Sony's publishing businesses after some staff cuts done three months ago - so who knows why this particular game is being held up?

 

A very credible rumor came up today - both Sony Online & Sony Publishing business is for sale. The rumor broke when Reuters & the Economic Times reported Zapak Digital Entertainment was close to announcing to their shareholders the acquisition of Sony Online. Richard Branson Virgin is apparently supporting the deal to move Sony's online gaming assets out of Sony and into the business controled by $22 Billion Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Group. John Smedley (CEO at Sony Online) has tried to hose down the rumor but a british based financier for Sony unfortunately let slip that Sony was valuing the business on the market for potential buyers but no deal had yet been signed...

 

In a different rumor the recently announced loss at Sony BMG Music has apparently triggered a second look for Sony to sell off the business unit with most pointing to Sony BMG joint partner Bertelsman also wanting to sell out of their 50% stake in the Sony BMG business too. The likely buyer is Universal Music. Rick Wilcoxen VP of Sales at Sony BMG Entertauinment quit Sony earlier this week to join Ubisoft, whilst Thomas Gewecke former VP Digital Business resigned from Sony BMG to join Warner Bros. No one gave reason for the high profile departures...

What does Sony BMG or SOE have to do with LBP? The only project from SOE for the PS3 is the agency and if SOE gets sold they either can the project or continue it. Not really earth shattering.

not all delays make developers "perfect" a game......not all finished up good....forgot about timeshift?....it sucked....

whine whine about delays....as if you guys buy games come day 1 of release....if that is so uncharted, R&C and UT3 sales would've skyrocketed on the 1st week of their release...but what? less than 100K  is sold, and there are +6million PS3 owners out there....and all the while you complain about delays...pffft. my PS3 is only 3 months old and already i have 13 titles, bought every exclusive on day 1 of it's release.

Once again, this website needs to have at least a few semi-profesional writers.  Unfortunately this is one of the sites that has consistant PS3 coverage.

This is a little dissapointing but im stll having fun playing some of the games ive had since Nov 06 when ps3 came out (Resistance) but i got unreal tournament recently which is awsome and ive got guitar hero III. For christmas im getting CoD4, Assasins Creed, Ratchet and Clank, and ROCK BAND! So delaying one title isn't tat big of a deal. Fall 08 will come sooner than u guys think

@ The Cleaner... Okay Captain Obvious. Its already well known that Sony BMG, along with every other record label/company, have been losing millions for years now so please quit trying to spin that one. Sony Online Entertainment is not, nor has it ever been for sale. That rumor was proven false on reuters yesterday. You should know that if Sony sold SOE then they'd have no way of competing with Microsoft online.

I have been looking forward to this game so much I don't want to be disappointed... so take your time Media Molecule, make a system seller!!  There are plenty of great games coming out in early '08 that this game would have kept me from playing anyway.  Now I can spend more time with Burnout, Haze, Turok, Dynasty Warriors, and Army of Two... jeez I'm gonna be busy next year!!

I don't mind if they delay the game if it's going to make the game better. Let them work on it and make it great.

They are going to lose sales over this..I was pumped about it when I first heard of it like everyone else...now I don't really care but I was still going to get it if it came out first half 2008..but now..?? No chance not wasting my money on it I'll have plenty of other stuff to spend my money on

All the other "games" mentioned in the article and in several posts are "me too" products- Haze=Doom, Killzone=Doom, GTA IV=GTA III, Burnout Paradise=Burnout, MGS 4=MGS... The reason why many have a right to be pissed off is because LBP looked like a revolutionary title AND a PS3 exclusive.  The demo´s looked pretty polished t me, what´s going on?  Surely they could have pushed the game out and then released additional levels via PSN?
