LittleBigPlanet receives much praise from SCEE event

Posted on April 15th, 2008 at 09:46 EDT

Media Molecules’ forthcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive LittleBigPlanet has been labelled as one of the most “important” videogame releases to date, according to feedback from a Sony Europe press tour this week.

According to Videogaming247, one attendee was quoted saying, “It’s going to be the most important game ever,” adding, “It’s just astonishing. “

The comments come following an exclusive, two-hour hands-on with the game earlier this week, where press members were given access to the full single player mode, level editor and “everything else”.

Although the game was reported to have crashed multiple times during the event, observers noted that it still played remarkably smoothly nonetheless.

“I think it’s literally bug-stomping now,” said one source. “The game is astoundingly smooth.”

Media Molecule recently announced that the title had entered the Alpha stage of its development cycle.

LittleBigPlanet is due for release in September 2008.

I'm not sure about this game and how it will turn out. According to a previous article I read, Sony actually thinks that LittleBigPlanet is one of there biggest releases of 2008.

A lot of people are anticipating LittleBigPlanet just because it's such a different game, but I hope that this game doesn't end up bombing. I'm sure that LBP should attract some casual gamers though.

Hm.  I think I'll leave all the innovative stuff to you young folk.I just wanna hit Home runs, shoot people, "drive" a Ferrari and see what happens to Solid Snake.

...and If I can get that all in one game, that would be sweet, too...

I think most of us are very skeptical of games thanks to Lair and Heavenly Sword. I remember when they both came out a couple weeks from each other. There was no way in h*ll they were gonna get below average reviews, and then BAM! Lair bombs and Heavenly Sword gets mixed reviews. Ever since then people have doubted Sony's first party titles. For most of us 'hardcore' gamers LBP looks kiddie but the more I hear from people who are also 'hardcore' who have played it, the more it becomes apparent that it's something really special. Some of you may not see it now, but I have a feeling that it's gonna be huge.
