MGS Online to be bundled with MGS4

Posted on December 14th, 2007 at 11:11 EDT

The latest issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine has revealed that the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will come packaged with Metal Gear Online when the game launches next year.

Previously it had been unclear as to whether or not MGS Online would retail as a separate release or come bundled with the fourth and final instalment in Konami’s stealth epic, though it seems that the company is indeed planning to release both games as one whole package.

Elsewhere, the magazine also hinted at the possibility of featuring up to 16 players in MGS Online’s Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill and Team Sneak modes, in addition to confirming that players will be able to customize their characters with three different skills, which level up over time.

Stay tuned for more details on MGS4 and MGS Online as they become available.

Well, I guess that's great for all MGS fans, though I have never played any game in the series before. Only heard a TV saying "SNAKE!? SNAAAAKE!?", maybe a demo would "enlighten" me?

On other note, I think 16 players is a bit low. But ok, well I don't know what kind of gameplay, the multiplayer in MGS will be... so?

"players will be able to customize their characters with three different skills, which level up over time" sounds a bit like the COD4 perk system, which is all good with me.

Triple DK let me tell u from experience u are missing out greatly. I as MGS fan should tell u to go try to find the last 3 MGS's and play them so u can get a idea what to expect from the 4th installment which is probably going to be the best game of 2008. especially with a 16 player deathmacth. thats great news...

16 players is fine for an MGO title, the combat is too personal for a huge 30 man battle expscially when they whole point is stealth combat or atleast keeping as low a profile as possible.

this is good news IF they dont wack up the price because we will be getting 2 games in one. Fair enuf increasing the price a bit but anything over £55 will be a bit harsh in my opinion. Althouhg i doubt that konami, being the great publishers thay are will do this.

Hmm, I was under the impression this was already the case, but hey better it's finally confirmed.  Good call on this as it would have been kind of lame to buy it separate, but I would have done that anyways.  MGS4 is going to be bananas.  I think this could easily be the best game for the PS3 when it is finally released-going to be huge.

Everyone needs to go out and preorder this game today. Get your PS3 owning friends to preorder it today as well. Let's all show Kojima that he was right to keep this a PS3 exclusive. And if you don't like the MGS series (I don't know how that is possible), buy a copy anyway to support PS3 exclusive games!

I'm really glad to hear this. i would have been so pissed if they expected me to buy it seperately. It's uncool to sell the online component of a game seperately. they're SUPPOSED to be together.

I'd loved to see an anthology collector's edition of the whole series (even if they just port the other games onto a couple of BD's) in a limited quantity distributed worldwide!!!  That, I would wait a little longer and pay for big $$$!!! Just hope there aren't anymore delays for this game and gets released simultaneously in all regions!

this makes the game all the better. Man this story is so entycing i cant take it anymore MGS3 really raised the standards for me it was such a great ending and music intense fire fight..... remember mounting on the turret gun while fighting the Metal gear while the female drove around. I loved how Snake started screaming with rage as he let off round after round while causing destruction everywhere. They definetly need to bring that back.

I can't freaking wait... i've been waiting on this game forever... and to hear that both will be bundled is a relief... hope they don't go over the price standard.. either way i'm still getting it...
