MotorStorm series to "dominate", says Evolution Studios

Posted on February 18th, 2008 at 07:33 EDT

Jed Ashworth, Gameplay Manager for MotorStorm developer Evolution Studios, has declared that the company has set its sights on dominating reaction racing for “a long time.”

Speaking to Eurogamer on the future of the MotorStorm series, Ashworth stated, "We have the aim of turning our launch-window title into a sustained, massive brand.”

“We plan to dominate reaction racing for a long time. We'd never aim any lower."

Despite refusing to comment on the upcoming MotorStorm 2, Ashworth did reveal that the company is hard at work on multiple projects, as opposed to the perception that the team is focusing solely on downloadable content for the original MotorStorm.

"The picture some people have of us all working on [MotorStorm DLC] is somewhat off the mark,” said Ashworth. "We're a multiple-project developer now."

MotorStorm launched along side the PlayStation 3 in November 2006, and has since gone on to sell more than 3 million copies worldwide, cementing it as one of Sony’s most successful brands to date.

2nd Whoo, yeah i've got motorstorm it's great but it does get boring after a while. I like using the trucks to smash into people on bikes.

psn id: gingo.... the only reason i didn't buy this game was because of no split screen so hopefully they rectify this in the second one and i might give it a buy

How can you not buy it just because it doesnt have splitscreen? I am normally the first to moan about the lack of splitscreen in any game, but this game is well worthy of a purchase regardless.

I have the game and think it is pretty good. But it gets boring at times and it still doesn't feel all that polished. Great start for their first game in the series. I am definitely looking forward to their second game. That one should have most things ironed out, hopefully a split screen feature as well as a better online gameplay. Sony now owns evolution studios company, so expect big things from them for their second game. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6179303.html http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/driving/motorstorm/news.html?sid=6180757

I think Motorstorm is an awesome game and like any other game, gets boring after a weeks continuous play. I'm sure we all can agree when you play Motorstorm for the the first few hours, it is a fun game? You can play it for a week and get bored but you want to go back to it.

Fix the load times and add vehicles/options. Less d/l content and more included on the blu ray disc. Fun game, could be terrific with proper adjustments.

Yeah I got this free when I bought my PS3. And yeah I did enjoy it for a few weeks, but then I got bored. Online play was really annoying. You'd start a with 6 racers and by the end of the race there would be only two who bothered to complete it, because big loser babies would quit halfway through.

this game is so dam good, i hope in part 2 they bring split screen stuff and add some stunts in the game for the motor cycles. And give the motor cycles driver some weapons to stop other drivers from running them over.

Since the original Test Drive and Pitstop 2 I have never really liked racers, then I played Motorstorm.  Truly a great racing games, yet I agree with people here, it needs more tracks, variety to stay fresh.  Also, a faster, better online matchmaking service would help.  The multiplayer part takes a looooong time between race to race.

I think Motorstorm can dominate for years to come.  I'll buy everytime a another edition launches.

I truly hope they'll add split screen to the sequel. Then it's a certain buy for me! That was the only thing that Motorstorm lacked (to convince me buying it).

It's not like they have a lot of competition, all they need is to add Split-screen,and the regular polishes a sequel gets. And they're set to rule this generation as the king of dirt racers.

"Multiple-project developer now."

now thats something i like to hear, MORE EXCLUSIVES!

im guessing ones going to be a PSN game which would be awesome! and if there only full fledged racing games thats awesome to! ether way it takes away from the onslaught of First Person Shooters

I dl the demo and the only thing that kept me from buying it, is no splitscreen. My friends are more into racing games then I am. If they add split screen multiplayer I will pick it up.

according to VGchartz it's the best selling ps3 game, just over resistance.

It was packaged with the ps3 at one point...but that's besides the point. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us with their new engine.

If they aim for greatness they had better include splitscreen. It's a joke not having it. It's like GM releasing a new car and just forgetting to install one of the wheels... or the back seats.... or something important like that.

hope #2 will have split-screen, and make the cars feel alittle faster...

All Motorstorm needed was split-screen multiplyaer and quicker load times and it would have been perfect.

Motorstorm was released with the PS3 in Europe, not in NA or Japan.  PSU even says March 6, 2007.
