Insomniac has stated that the company may consider including multiplayer functionality in the next Ratchet and Clank title, even though the decision was made not to feature it in the latest instalment on PlayStation 3.
Speaking to MTV News, Insomniac’s Brain Allgeier expressed his disappointment in the number of multiplayer games logged in Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal and Deadlocked, stating, "[W]e were kind of disappointed to find that less than 5 percent of players actually played [multiplayer online] who actually played the game for both Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal and Deadlocked.”
"And so, in looking at Ratchet & Clank: Future, we thought, well we could spend 30 percent of our resources on multiplayer, but that would take 30 percent away from the single-player experience."
Despite this, Alleiger hinted that the company would like to "go down that road again someday", harmonizing with earlier comments made by the firm, when it told Eurogamer that multiplayer would return “one day.”
He also revealed that the game would link up with the PSP title Secret Agent Clank "in some secret, undisclosed way", though did not go into specific detail.
Head over to our Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction review to see what we think of the latest adventure in the series.

well at least well no itll come some day
R&C in my opinon dose suit multiplayer but not nessersary. There's a insentive for every game to have mulitplayer and i'm not sure why?
How can multiplayer in R&C work? Will it be like kill each other?
Why don't they just release a multiplayer mode for download on the store?, instead of making another brilliant game.
psn id: gingo.... well now with the psn it should be much easier to get people playing multiplayer because lets be honest the ps2s online capabilities were almost non existant
Multi player isn't made for games like R&C.Its hard to get a good Multi player experience out of a platformer.
Its a shame really that multiplayer missed this new excellent Ratchet game. I'm one who also didn't go online with the previous Ratchets on PS2 but if Insomniac did further research, they would find that many Ratchet gamers didn't go online with their copies not because of the game itself but because of the Playstation network sucked at the time. Many Ratchet owners would still have had the bogger PS2 and needed to buy the network adaptor which very few people did. The chances are that the 5% Insomniac talks about would have owed a PS2 slim.
Insomniac should have done a survey to see if the reasons where due to the poor PS2 network.
well the reeson was cuz both of those games were on the ps2 and didnt you need an add-on for online 4 ps2? not so for the ps3 version so next time get online :)
hi KH3Owns, offical blue, ferre and all of u. I want u for myself he he ha ha xena boi
@PS3 - the ultimate machine
You are right, but there are missions you can undertake in multiplayer, that would even include online.
uh... maybe some kind of Co-op?...... i love co-op online..... its an amazing way to play a game.... glad HAZE has it extensively..... though, i guess who would wanna be the charracter on ratches back doing nothing....lol......CLANK!...
i think by spending all insomniacs time on the single player, really pated off. I would hope that the next one has multiplayer, but for now no multiplayer isnt that bad.
Tell me you people don't want the same guys who brought us an awesome online experience with R:FOM, to do it with R & C also.Maybe not all kill, kill, carnage but at least co-op with captain qwark
I just think the only reason for the lack of online multiplayer with PS2 titles, was simply because the PS2 internet options wasn't very popular! I played offline with 3 friends and it was dang fun!! I also did play online and it was even funnier!! Untill people logged off.....
