Chris Chung, President of NCSoft, has revealed that the company is planning to unveil its first title for home consoles at some point later this year.
Chung revealed that the firm should have "something to announce--not only announce but to show--by the second half of this year. I'm pretty psyched about that,” he told Wired, at the annual DICE Summit in Las Vegas last week.
Although Chung neglected to go into detail, it is well known that NCSoft is currently under contract with Sony Computer Entertainment to deliver four titles for the PlayStation 3, increasing the probability that the upcoming announcement may indeed be part of this lucrative deal.
For those expecting a PS3 port of existing IP’s such as Tabula Rasa or Guild Wars, however, Chung argues, "that's the wrong way to do it. You have to create a gameplay that's really suitable for the console space, the console experience. I mean, it's very different from PC."
"I think the key is whether the development team really buys into the console. I think we have a couple of development teams that the title that they're making could be a hit in the console space as well as the PC,” he continued.
“We do have a couple of titles that we have in mind, we're actively making sure that they're developing for not only PC but also console. We may have some more in future."
Stay tuned for more news on NCSoft’s plans for PS3 in the near future.

Thats awesome!
Cant wait for the announcement!
Ah i dont care until they annouce something solid.
Always good to hear that home consoles continue to gain support, even from pc developers. Some of my favorite titles have started on pc and slipped to the consoles.
psn id: gingo... i am intrigued by this because MMO 's are not the usual type of games for consoles mainly because of the controls but if anyone can pull this off NCsoft will
a Guild Wars HD !!!! but a new game is also i good.. and bethseda ic creating the new Elder Srcolls whcich can be a MMORPG!!
Who needs this korea a$S we have warhawk and ressistance want third person then mgs online and agency (^_^)
Ruiy JR. We already have fps on the PS3. All your mentioned games are fps or online fps. They are not mmorpgs. I am sure they won't dissapoint and bring a great IP. I just hope it isn't tabula rasa styled. I hope its something similar to guild wars. That was awesome. Perhaps the game they announce will be Guild Wars 2. Considering they are making that game for pc and maybe it will be cross platform so we can play with our pc buds.
i wonder wat it could be....
Thats kewl... also, if it's taking this long for the first title, I'm willing to bet that the 4 game contract will be something that last most of the PS3's lifecycle and thats awesome. New MMORPGS throught the life of a console? hel-la kewl.
@ gingo - MMO's in general does recieve more mixed perceptions when it does cross over to the console realm. IDK when such console MMO's reach feverish level in comparison to PC games but then again no one has ever really broken down tha barrier completely right?
I like there philiosophy about porting their already made PC games to consoles. Smart decision, anyway can't wait to here what's going on.
i can see with their first game for ps3 its probably gonna suck because it will be their first dipp into ps3 land. i hope that the lackluster sales will not dishearten them and make their subsequent games suck even more. i really do hope its not the case tho cause i love ncsoft my favortie game would definitly have to be lineage2 and if thy can create something similar to that with kb/m support i will be in heaven.
bring lineage 2 and ill be happy xD
For sure, bring lineage2! I do hope however that they create a new game, and not a port of lineage2. The PS3 doesnt have a lot of RAM, so the world would have to probably be in sections im guessing. I just hope they dont make the leveling aspect as long as lineage2. It takes too damn long to get anywhere in that game (talking about levels and stats) so I hope its a mix kind of like GuildWars, but with the excellent PvP system of lineage2. Keyboard and Mouse support will be a must, but due to the fact that people don't sit near the TV, I hope headsets will replace typing for communication or it will be difficult to read.
I'm very excited about this because there has NEVER been a true MMORPG on a console yet. There are console RPG games, but not MMORPG games. This is probably the last genre that is exclusive to PC so far and I hope that changes with NCSoft. With NCSoft and keyboard and mouse support, you can finally actually dump the PC for gaming. If you don't game on a PC, there is little to no reason to upgrade it for many many years so we would all save a bunch of money to!
