NCsoft Europe boss Geoff Heath has stated that the company anticipates PC owners to make the transition to Sony’s PlayStation 3 console in the long term.
"I think there is a difference between PC and console players but there's overlap as well," said Heath, in an interview with Gamesindustry.biz. "Our view long term is that people who have traditionally only played on PC will actually now start transitioning to PS3. Once they figure out what PS3 does, I think that take-up will get greater and greater."
Heath’s comments come following the company’s announcement that has begun developing titles for Sony’s next-generation console. While refusing to go into detail, he did state that the first batch of games would consist of three or four games.
"Our biggest problem, which is a nice one, is that we've got loads of games - I think we've got something like nine MMOs in development and about 20 free MMOs, the ones you don't pay subscriptions for - so we've got tons of products in development. We can't realistically do all of them for PS3, plus the fact that we've got existing IP," he added.
"So, really our nice problem is to distill down to probably three or four titles, initially, that would do for PS3. We're working with Sony on which ones they are."
Concluding, Heath expressed interest in PlayStation Portable, stating, "some of our products would be great for PSP".

I doubt that whilst making this transition, people will then forsake the pc they are so used to. if anything, the gaming side of PC and PS3 will coexist in their daily activities as it already does in mine.
I agree gorillanuts. PC users will definately stay PC users. The PS3 is not a PC and never will be. PC's have vastly more memory, HDD storage, burners, and in slots etc... Users also like the keyboard / mouse combo and the mod community doesnt like Sony because of all the propriatary stuff, all the DRM crap and bad reputation (thinking rootkit) etc... Hence all the good mods will only ever be done on the PC. PS3 on the otherhand is a video console and you play different games in a different manner. Like gorillanuts said - they co-exist.
Well I'm a pc gamer and I just bought the PS3. That won't make me not play PC games. I agree with Gorillanuts
PC gamers may not transition but he's alsosaying they want to release some of these MMOs for PS3. This is great news and they could be like UT3 and be cross platform and allow keyboard and mouse. This would make PC users more comfortable and maybe try these games out on the PS3. He also says some of his products would be great on PSP, so maybe we could also see some PSP MMOs
ps3 gaming and PC gaming are 2 very different things.
I personally got tired of replacing my video card every 6 months. So the PS3 is my first console since Super NES, since then I had been a PC Gamer. I love my PS3. The multimedia streaming, the games, the blu-ray player. I still have my pc but now I don't really have to update it as often which is a good thing in my opinion.
psn id: gingo... i cant wait to see what kind of MMO'S they put out of ps3, if it's stuff like Tabula Rasa and Guild Wars then they will be rollin in muny
The only reason I like playing console game vs pc games is all the downloads you have to do afterwards. download a game, then you have to go out and find all the patches, then go out and find all the anti-cheat softwear, and slap it all together, then say a little prayer and presto you are in. Console games are much easier, just slap it in and go, and the patches come to you. but that is just me.
Well,i'm a PC gamer and i don't even like SIMS.That is why i'm getting a console.Don't wanna jinx the buy so i'll make a thread about it AFTER i get it.
I pretty much agree with the article's viewpoint. I grew up being a hardcore PC gamer, but got tired of spending the money for the next video card / processor upgrade. I've finally decommissioned my last desktop/gaming PC and now use notebook PC's only for work. All my gaming has moved over to the PS3.
yes bring the mmo's, would be great to play on the PS3...
If more games would have support for mouse and keyboard then more PC users would make a transition to PS3. A lot of PC gamers hate the idea of having to use a joypad to play an FPS.
AION!!!!!! ps3 must have AION!
I don't know about "transition" but apeal more to PC gamer crowds, I think so. I'm like pr75. I found PC games to be great fun but all the issues of hardware upgrades and then issues when new OS's come out *cough*vista*cough* really started to put a drag on the whole experiance. THen you find cool mods but then the game updates and it breaks your mods and its this never ending maintance cycle.
