New 40GB bundle from Best Buy in Canada

Posted on January 28th, 2008 at 14:56 EDT

If the 40 GB PlayStation 3 unit was not already attractive enough, Best Buy has cooked up a nice deal for the 40GB PS3 all for under 400 bucks.

The new Best Buy bundle package includes the normal contents of a 40GB console such as the Spider Man 3 Blu-ray, however, for the bundle price which is the same as the standard retail pricing; the console will come with both Rainbow Six Vegas and Ghost Recon 2: Advanced Warfighter.

While both games might show a little age, it is still a great deal for those who have yet to purchase the valuable PlayStation 3 console. So for $399 and two free games which happens to be a deal that nobody in their right mind should pass up; just head over to Best Buy and check it out for yourself!

Now that's a Best Buy! People need to realize that the Playstation is a computer, it will get upgraded features in the future. The 40gig already has a 65 nanometer chip from the first 90 nanometer which reduced the power consumption from 200watts to 135watts, also making the machine more silent. Toshiba and Sony are in the works of creating a 45 nanometer chip. Thus reducing costs to build the Playstation which someday will be cheaper for the consumer. Who cares how many gigs you get, upgrade if you need...... I just wish every SKU they made was backward capable cause I'm not going to bust out my dinosaur of a PS2!

Pretty sweet deal but the 60gb is still the best PS3, I only wish I bought a 2nd 60gb when I had the chance.  Why people keep waiting for 120-160gb sku's when you can do it yourself is beyond me.  I've had a 160gb installed for months now, it takes less than 30 mins for the entire process and the 60gb drive becomes a handy extra backup drive.  A reasonable $100 upgrade imo

psn id: gingo.... quite a nice deal although i think they should have given people a choice of about 5 games that they could choose two from but whatever its two decent games nonetheless

I'd rather have my 60GB anyday.

Though maybe Sony should market a 120GB and 160GB model.  Same price, but 120 cames with game and extra controller; 160GB game or controller.
