Hate to say it but someone must the 360 still outsold us but next year with the PS3 big games coming out and maybe another price cut I forsee the 360 sales leveling out and the PS3 rising by a huge amount but in the mean time well done Sony

umm u lot do not the ps3 came last right? this year 2007 is wii year for hardware and xbox 360's year for software. i dont no how it will be next year but my guess is:

US - DS - Wii - X360 - PS3 - PSP - PS2

EU - DS - Wii - X360/PS3 - PSP - PS2

JP - DS - Wii - PSP - PS3 - PS2 - X360

my guess is that nintendo will be on top and the ps2 will be fazed out in the US and EU at the end of the year.

Does 1.8 million PSN accounts in America mean people? Or does that count as Japan and Euro gamers making US accounts also?

The thing is they need to make sure this momentum keeps happening into 2008 in order to essentially comeback into the console competition. They have a long road ahead of them but they need to keep pumping out the system sellers people want, PERIOD.

I wonder how much more my girlfriend will play her 360 when she gets her new PS3 for the holidays.

I'd be willing to bet money that Sony has the lead by the time God of War 3 comes out.

I want to see the #'s after the entire holiday season is finished.  They should be impressive.

I bet there are more Japanese accounts created by US than the Japanese themselves, lol.

too bad those playstation network statistics are flawed cause everyone creates US accounts... if they gave us a worldwide service it would be right.

You people who come onto playstation fan sites and trash talk the ps3 are pathetic.  You want to talk about your system of choice's "superiority" go to the appropriate fan sites.  Get a life losers and you live yours and let us live ours.  I hate the xbox and the wii's gameplay is getting old, but I guarantee you will never see me on an xbox 360 or wii fansite talking about their inferiorities to the playstation brand, and there are many.  The xbox's success will not continue much longer and the biggest reason for this is the lack of capacity on dvds.  That was microsofts biggest mistake, staying with the dvd on the 360.  People can argue the supperiority of hd dvd and blu ray until they all turn blu (like my pun?), but no one will deny that both are superior to dvd and not choosing one of them will be the end of the xbox brand.  I mean they have now made blu ray discs that hold 100 gb of data, and hd dvd, although less, is at 51 gb.  dvd is 9 something.  What's going to happen when the ps3 starts coming out with titles that fill 100 gb discs and the 360 is still stuck with 9 gb discs.  Microsoft will have to do one of two things, admit that they can't compete, or break their promise to their customers and come out with a 360 that uses hd dvd or blu ray discs.  And the only reason the wii is doing so good is because nintendo chose not to compete with the ps3 or 360 since they lost the last generation's war so badly and market to a different audience.  You can argue all you want that the wii is funner than the ps3 and the titles are big sellers, but no matter who you're a fan of you can not honestly say that the 360 or the wii are superior machines.  The wii and 360 still hold the sales advantage, but how long do you think that is going to last once the 360s flaws become more and more aparant to its fans, and more and more non gamer wii fans (which is their main target group) have grown bored of the wii and begin to look for the next big thing.  What will happen is that the ps3 will be on top and us playstation fans will finally be able to view stories in our own fansites without all of you annoying @55holes invading our sites.  Just wait and see.

Home PC - 540 million (XP based, sold in last 3 years alone)... Installed base is way past a billion.

Wii  - 14.5 million

Xbox 360 - 13.4 million

PS3 - 5.5 million

PORTABLES:

Mobile Phones - 1 billion units sold each year

Laptops: 240 million (XP based sold in past 3 years alone)

DS - 54 million

PSP - 15 million

I think the Sega Saturn sold around 10 million units so Sony PS3 should be able to out sell the Saturn next year. My personal opinion is the best way to help sell more games machines is by releasing some good games for it... that would probably help. I might be wrong, maybe movies are the big sales driver...but I've just  got this feeling that "gamers" might be buying video game systems to play ...games. Just a hunch.

P.S: those who think Wii is not good for games should checkout Super Mario Galaxy... Should we compare Ratchet & Clank Tools of Destruction review scores (GameSpot 7.5) to Super mario Galaxy (GameSpot 9.5)? What about comparing sales of Ratchet Tools (75,000 first month) versus Super Mario Galaxy (750,000 first week) ... I'm embarrassed as a PS3 owner. All the so called next Gen power and Nintendo can kick our butts. Mario Galaxy is amazing so why cant we get something of that quality? Sony - pickup your game please.

This brings me to the point Im trying to make here. I would like the quality of games to improve greatly on PS3. Id like less hype and more substance. Too many so called master peices end up being ...just OK. I have played Unchartered Drakes fortune and finished it. It was... OK... it's short, and its not exactly perfect as promissed. Its not a master peice. Ive played Motorstorm - yawn... Kane & Lynch ...oh its crap. Ridge Racer 7...Oh p-a-l-e-a-s-e!, and then Spiderman 3 ... super hyped but is complete shi-at, and what about Lair ... come on what about Lair... Where the fock is all the so called next gen PS3 games? Where is the quality? Where are the exclusives? Where is the selection?

Now check out UT3 on PC and then compare to PS3... then do the same for Call of Duty 4.... infact all cross platform ends up weakest on PS3..... GET IT TOGETHER SONY. FIX THIS UP NOW!

I paid a big premium price for PS3 so I expect the PS3 games to be better than Xbox 360 not the same (or worst). I expect cross platform games to be released first on PS3, run faster on PS3, have better AI and damage physics, and have more levels & features - not less.

I can understand your frustrastion but it's not entirely sony's fault, you got to understand that the developers have many faults to this. As you can see EA is doing a great job at f_cking with PS3. Also understand we haven't even began to see our true exclusive IP's. Keep in mind MGS4 can only be on the PS3 Hideo Kojima said it himself it's incapable to be a 360 title as well.

Now if you want to go for reviews honestly, I think their getting paid off or (2) there just not true gamers, because yes they always rag on PS3 but I've played games on the 360 and wii and these high scoring games in my opinion are bunked. Halo doesnt deserve a 9.5 and so does mario galaxy. ratchet at least deserves a 8.5 and uncharted ...... i mean come on they gave it a 8 due to intense fire fights?? clearly that deserves a 9. yeah games maybe short but what do you expect if you want the game to be released in a short amount of time.

You want quality then I guess you'll be waiting for a while till dev's get more advanced in their hardware. Sony has only been out for a year and close to a month now and they did put out great IP's i dont care what no one says, HS is a great game that deserved a 9.0 at least they gave it a 8. Why because it was short. I loved the game and can't wait for the sequel. The only game i feel deserved a 9.5 for the xbox is GOW and that came out shortly after a year when the 360 was out. But that game was just as long as uncharted so whats the fuss about??

Bottom line you seem a little impatient you know what the future has in store for PS3 coming 08 especially the line up of games.... remember it almost took to 2 years for halo to drop when the 360 was already out to get their best selling single Ip keyword in this sentence (SINGLE) to years and their just now seeing one of their favs being released. We are projected to see ours i give it summer when our great exclusives will be out that are coming for a return visit on the PS3 which put us at a year and a half and thats over "3" great selling games MGS4, GT5, KZ2, in two years we should have "5" with the FF series and if possible RFOM2 i'm hoping.

So dont fall for all this hype of Xbox numbers and wii numbers and reviews they are recieving because if you do numbers which I think you do with all the numbers you give in many post then you should know that sony still has a future and because i'm a person that is not converting to a 360 or wii and if you do numbers PS2 sold over 100 million units!!! Now how many of them you think will convert over to 360 or wii i give it 25% added that xbox sold only 24 million in a grand total of 50 million units for 360 in a span of 7 years which i think i could be right given that they sold 13.5 in two years which puts them at 6.75 million units a year multiply that by 7 (years) and you get 47.25 million units. You clearly show PS3 @ 5.5 in their first year vs. xbox going on est. 6.75 there really not far from each other in my opinion. Just think xbox 360 isnt even projected to even last that long. I'm giving them a benefit of the doubt because i seriously doubt that they will convert about 75% loyal die hard playstation fans. Just read the post on this site people would rather die than convert to xbox or wii... lol at least most of them.....lol come to think of it ...... it's funny cause its seems that this gaming industry is becoming like a religion. I can see it now..... people getting persecuted for believing in a gaming system lmao...

You are comparing super mairo galaxies score on gamespot to ratchet and clanks score on gamespot and acting like it means anything.  Have you noticed that gamespots scores for ps3 games are generally a whole point lower if not more than most other sites.  I wouldn't be surprised if gamespot was on microsoft's payroll they are so biased.  I do not take any reviews of ps3 games seriously that I see on gamespot.  And then you compare the sells figures between the two games.  Of course mario is going to have massively better sells.  There are more wiis out there at the moment than ps3s and the mario franchise is their biggest  franchise.  That would be like comparing how a donkey kong game does compared to what final fantasy xiii will do when released, or metal gear solid.  Of course a systems biggest franchise is going to outperform a smaller franchise.  That would also be like comparing say a tekken title to halo 3.  Tekken is a pretty popular ps3 title, but compared to a franchise like halo, it can't compete.  And one more thing, Lair is not a bad game!  I have been getting really tired of all the negative reviews of lair.  It is a really good game in my opinion and everyone talks as if it's a fact that it is a terrible game.  What's the main reason people hate it?  The controls?  The controls are just fine.  I think most people have just jumped to the conclusion that the controls suck without even bothering to try to learn them, when once learned, they are not only not bad but fun.  One last thing, you point out spider man 3 as a main drawback to the ps3.  It is on just about every system I can think of.  You talk like its an awesome game on every system but the ps3.  Or like it's an exclusive.  I'm sorry, but it really sounds like you should be posting on another site.  If you really don't like your ps3 that much than do us all a favor and sell and go to an xbox or wii fansite where I am sure you will fit right in.

Mate your probably right - Im getting a bit frustrated and admit that I'm impatient but I really did think that things would be much better by now. I also agree that some publishers act like they are trying to sabotage PS3 particularly EA, Ubisoft and Namco with poor programming / optimization and doing nothing but second hand ports. You are correct that this is not Sony's fault.

Having said that, Sony are guilty of hyping up some of their games as if it's going to be the best thing on earth and then release something that is average at best. This just gets your hopes up only to be let down once again. They can only tell lies so many times before people stop believing them... I think it is important to exceed people expectations and in that way gain a good reputation. Thats why the next game released by Sony must be very very good.

I hear what your saying about the new year and Im really hoping that MGS 4 is voted game of the year for 2008 and can't wait for Final Fantasy but I suspect it will be quite a while. Meanwhile I feel its been a very long wait for us made harder by watching everyone else enjoy games like Bioshock and Mass Effect. For all the hype around PS3 power why couldnt a game like Crysis come out on PS3 first? Why couldnt Call of Duty 4 or Orange Box or UT3 be built on PS3 then ported to the others..why couldn't it be better?

The hardest thing for me to comprehend is having gone to a mates place two days ago and played Super Mario Galaxy for two or three hours... It was amazing. This game is great. I then started thinking that I have nothing as good as it on my PS3 - I am saying that Ratchet Tools which was supposed to be a Sony end of year Ace just isnt anywhere near as good. What makes this hard is that this Mario game is on a frikken Wii... You see why Im confused? My machine cost me three times as much as my freinds Wii, it has a hundred times more processing power and graphics power yet I cant say I've got anything to play on it that is quite as good.

We really need some excellent games to come out. I mean no more average stuff. Anyway you finished on a really interesting point. It's crazy but true - people are becoming fanatical about their console, just like a religion or maybe backing their console vendor the same way as their favourite basketball or football team. Maybe Im becoming too much like that. I really get cranky when seeing Playstation drop from number one (PSX & PS2) to third place... maybe I shouldnt get so worked up about it LOL... Cheers Bro.

You know what your right on that Sony is over hyping their games, thats why we need more demos, but then over hyping a game has it's positives and negatives. Positives could mean leading to more sales, possible chance for a sequel but if the game bombed it would be the total opposite and mainly integrity comes into play.

I feel you on the part where you go to your friends house and they got these good games and they rag on your PS3 and all I can say is wait and see, yeah it's hard to swallow but like I said ya gotta be patient. I should some of my friends the new games that are coming out in 08' and they admitted that these games look like they can give xbox and wii a run for their money. I even have some even getting a PS3 because of all the features Sony has compared to their console. believe you me everyone here knows the potential of the PS3, even the other console fanboys know it, they just in denial. But please remember it's only been a year, just relax and have faith cause in the end you'll see who comes on top.
