PS3 European Platinum range update

Posted on March 25th, 2008 at 06:19 EDT

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) will be introducing a PlayStation 3 Platinum range in the region this fall, according to reports from website Jeux-France.

The website claims that the company will be offering Formula One: Championship Edition, Folklore, Genji: Days of the Blade, Heavenly Sword, Lair, Resistance: Fall of Man and Ridge Racer 7 for a reduced price of EUR 40 each.

Speaking to Next-Gen.biz, a spokesperson for SCEE commented: “We have said all along that a Platinum range will happen at some point as it is what we have always done. As for when, we haven't and will not confirm anything yet.”

Stay tuned for more information as it breaks.

Doesn't PLATINUM mean they need to have sold over a million copies of the game?!?  And yeah, Motorstorm has sold over million!

How much are they usually in Euro $$???

thats not a very good deal, 40 euros is roughly £30.99, how about knocking them out at £19.99

The prices are way too high considering the number of games that are very average quality and dont really show up PS3 capabilities at all. I'm starting to buy my games pre-owned and only after Ive seen how the game performs. There needs to be better quality control. Sony should release a logo for games that are properly made - IE: not lazy ports, they need to live up to a certain quality level.

That deal could have been a little better, imo.

Well I dont know. When the 3fixme greatest hits came out they were also like $30.I think it will be like that. But hey, I'd rather pay $30 for heavenly sword than perfect dark zero!

On second thoughts this has to be wrong. For starters you can buy most of these games for £24.99 already (if you hunt around a bit), so at the advertised price they aint gonna sell any. I would be up for Formula 1 if it was £19.99

I already have the majority of the games that are going to be coming out in the Platinum series. I wonder when Sony is going to bring that program or the "Greatest Hits" program to the U.S.   Resistance Fall of Man has been out for over a year and the price has never dropped. I'm not that surprised really because I didn't think that PS3 games would be dropping in price really quick, especially 1st party titles.

These platinum hits look more like launch titles to me.  Where's Resistance and Motorstorm? Good thing I don't live in Europe.

I've seen Genji and Folklore going for £17.99 already in Zavvi. I think Ridge Racer 7 was £24.99 - possibly an easter offer though.
