PS3 Unreal Tournament 3 release date in doubt

Posted on September 11th, 2007 at 10:20 EDT

Epic Games Vice President Mark Rein has conceded that the PlayStation 3 and PC debut of Unreal Tournament 3 may miss its intended release date this November.

The game has been widely marketed as a console exclusive to Sony’s PS3 for the duration of 2007, with an Xbox 360 version not arriving until some time in early 2008. However, speaking on Epic’s official forums this week, Rein hinted that game might be pushed back further than originally planned.

“We do not know exactly when the game will be completed", he said. "All we've said is that we're hoping for a November release but as you know we value getting it right over getting it right now so there's no guarantee of that”.

Stay tuned for more coverage on Unreal Tournament 3 as it breaks.

Hmmm....seems like all these developers know they can't finish certain games this year, to they do Sony a favour and say that they can....get some of the public to get a early jump by buying the PS3 thinking that their most wanted game will be out in a matter of months and then they come clean.....business is business I guess. Good thing I have sh!tloads of games to play until the real stuff starts dropping.

“We do not know exactly when the game will be completed" yeah right ... seems like mr.gates gave them extra cash so that the game is released on x360 at the same time as on ps3 !!!

lol! Nope, they will start work on the xbox version after the ps3 one is released so there's still the exclusive window for Sony. Lets hope this is released before Christmas as that will definitely help PS3 sales.

franckribery07, Epic is notorious for saying, "It'll be done when it's done" Any fan of UT knows this as fact and was already  expecting a push back. If you dont know facts, dont be so quick to throw mud  on the "payoff" propaganda.

Will any PS3 game come out on time?

No, every game will be pushed back. That's why no one adds the "Will Be Delayed" subtitle.  It's just a given and widely understood. Plus it could make for some extremely long names for games. (The Lord of The Rings: The Battle For Middle Earth II: Rise of the Witch King: Will Be Delayed)

I'm sure it will release in november, maybe a week later but i doubt that there will be substantial delay, and besides it's epic we are talking about, they deliver.
