This is a much needed update.

WOW! What an update!! I can see they've been hard at work and put EVERYTHING people wanted in one tiny package. I'm sure it's not a small update but you get my point. I'm so glad they got more visualizers finally. I doubt I'll be able to remember all this stuff to check it out when it gets here. GO SONY!

Doubt it....I checked the link to the website mentioned in the article and the "2.0" is referring to the Term of Service & User Agreement.  In fact, I got an email yesterday from SCEA about the 2.0 revision to the agreement taking effect on Oct. 30.

Great! I have been looking forward to this update for a long time! I truly hope they get to release it on the planned date.

I would like to think so but I'll take the 'wait and see' approach seeing as this all started with the 'Terms of Service' agreement.  If something happens Oct 30th, great, if not, won't be disappointed.  I can already see it now, if nothing happens the 30th, there is going to be b****ing of unknown proportions.

If i can play a game while chatting with a friend in another game, or be in a chat and still be able to play a demo and/or music.. Then I will definately be using my PS3 more, thats for Fu(king sure, and hopefully this update will fix the screen where it cuts off on the sides, I know im not the only one.. GO SONY!!

ict07 is correct - this ONLY addresses the update of the terms of service and user agreement which is updated due to the fact that PSEye will be out shortly which will allow you to do some new stuff - this is NOT about firmware 2.0

We all know this is just a rumour that probably won't happen..so you really shouldn't have posted anything until it was confirmed !! It will just fuel the hype up for yet another massive crash !!

quick question.... when searching through the web on a standard tv, how can i get the internet screen to fit the tv screen so i do not have to scroll left or right?

i'm really excited about being able to use the XMB during gameplay. does that mean we will be able to listen to our own music during gameplay like xbox? and does anyone know how to download songs from an ipod onto the ps3?

This User Agreement refers explicitly to the Playstation Network and not the firmware. A cursory glance through the contents confirms this.

For all who read this:  the list of updates in the article are 100% rumor--there's no factual info. behind any of this, so don't get your hopes up UNTIL the truth is revealed.

Sounds pretty awesome! Never been bothered bout any updates, but now that it's been confirmed, and with a date, I'm thrilled!

I heard this was just a updated terms and conditions for when they release home and not actually firmware 2.0..but who knows, it could well be true. *crosses fingers*

yeah this is kinda speculation...some stuff I think is a solid bet....but they are even going on a limb saying the whole XMB thing and some others....tho I do hope its true!

awesome update, its ironic last night i wondered, when and what would be in the next 2.0 update. XMB ingame is beautifull i cant wait.

This is a revison of the "Terms and Service Agreement" Thats all this guy Justin did was give you the like of the Website and copy pasted the same damn artile that was used for the FW 2.0 rumor article.. Yeah I doubt the 2.0 update is comming any time soon. If it does I bet it's not gonna be as big as this is. Feels like we're not gonna be up to speed (system features) for a looooong time.

Doesn't anybody actually read?!?! This is for the Terms of Service Agreement. There is no mention of firmware on the Sony link provided in the article. Check your facts dude!

this update was rumor posted by a girls named LEAH on the Playstation site...she claimed her account was hacked and someone else posted it... i for one don't care....all i want is the in-game XMB access... we've already gotten things that are on this list though, so it could be legit(or sony saw the fake post, and hopefully decided to give into the consumers demands)...either way... please be true!!

There are statements from SCEA CEO James Armstrong in Spain saying that the 40 GB PS3's will ship with 2.0 firmware in October(improved DVD playback etc) and it is around Oct 31, 2007 that they will be on store shelves. Wow, this is great.  Amazing things that have ALREADY BEEN RELEASED.  Wallpaper anyone?  It's like Organic_Shadow said, 60% of this has already been released.  This is the same article I read on the PS forums months back as rumors.  Good source check, sure looks like the updated user agreement to me...

If these things would be included in the update it would be more than awesome but I doubt it:

MP4 files with embedded subtitles now SHOW the subtitles.

DIVX/XVID support with subtitles.

Moving SWF/FLASH wallpapers would be cool too.

awesome but no support for divx and wmv - no xmb 5.1 or 7.1 channel support for avc files - how do sony want their new avc file format to take off if there's no multi channel support - try watching ur 5.1 channel avc files in 2 channel-crap ...

I sure hope the rumour is true, and I hope BC on the games I have are improved (eg. fix the glitches that crashes all my PS2 games!!!). Time will tell...

Just thought I'd say, Firstly  I think this is the one that everyone's been waiting for! and about the software aggreement stuff it seems that they are just getting all the legality baloney set up for the release of HOME. I believe the software end user agreement is just part of the actual update. And from Sonys legal standpoint, That's MORE IMPORTANT to them than you being able access the XMB during gameplay as well as the other assorted stuff.

It would be great if Sony would add antialaising on PS2 and PS1 games in the next firmware update but I cant see that happening.

Wouldn't matter if the 2.0 update was for the firmware or not as whats listed in this article will never happen in one single update. I bet we don't get in-game xmb in 2.0

It might not be coming today. Sony's not very good with being on time with there scheduled updates.

I dont think you'll ever get he update lol, read it again ... *Update* It has transpired that the 2.0 update listed on the website was for an update to the Terms and Conditions for PlayStation Network, and not the software at all. 

(meaning its not a software update)   :((

So much for all that hype. Oh well, I bought my PS3 in kuwait and I am still stuck here till mid december, so its not like I can get online with it anyways.
