Treyarch already thinking about next Bond gameSony Computer Entertainment announced today that it’s latest home console, the PlayStation 3, has sold over one million units in the UK since its launch in March 2007.
By contrast, its predecessor, the PlayStation 2, took 50 weeks to reach the same number after going on sale in the region in November 2000.
Nintendo’s Wii took 38 weeks to reach the one million mark, while Microsoft’s Xbox 360 took 60 weeks.
The PS3 currently retails for around GBP 299.99 in the UK for the 40GB machine, with Sony phasing out the 60GB model last year.

well lets see theres 56 weeks in a year and its the second week in feb so id say about 53 or 54
PS3 was released March 23rd - 3rd week of March
Currently 2nd Week of Feb
52 - 5 = 47 Weeks

Nice enough. It surpasses Xbox 360, which I would say is beginning to see problems. Ring of Death is being heavily duscussed right now, and sales is beginning to be sluggish.

@ HAZE - Your in a kinda bias room here mate, being a PSU website but I can honestly say that the PS3 is better in almost every way. Ive owned 4 xbox 360's (keep dying) and finally decided to bite the bullet and buy a PS3. Ive never looked back. You have a built in Blu-ray player, web browser, free online play and a far more powerful machine. Give it a year and the PS3 will truly start showing what it can do! BUY ONE NOW! : )
well the ps2 was undeniably the best console of its generation and sold and is still selling like crazy, so if the ps3 beat it to 1 million i dont really think the uk is going to be the problem for sony. the biggest challenge for them is going to be my home north america as the wiii and 360 are doing pretty well here.

surprised to see that the ps3 is selling better than the ps2 (when it came out), if sales figure continue like this sony might just meet thier 11 million mark for march 31st
