PS3 version of Bionic Commando: Rearmed superior

Posted on February 22nd, 2008 at 20:01 EDT

The limitless file size strategy Sony set for the PlayStation Network is beginning to pay off. When interviewed on the remake of the original Bionic Commando for PSN and XBLA, Bionic Commando: Rearmed, Capcom Producer Ben Judd revealed that the 150 MB limit placed by Microsoft on XBLA games is restricting their development on the Xbox 360 platform.

"Blame Live Arcade's 150MB limit on file sizes," Judd remarked.

The PS3 and PC versions will have higher resolution textures as a result of the slightly larger file size. The game is expected to be priced anywhere from $10 to $15 when it launches this spring on the PlayStation Network.

Cool. Is it possible for Microsoft to allow developers to use more memory in the future? I can't wait to play this game on my ps3.

Has any of u guys seen the ps3 fourms vbulletin message!???????????

Answer!!!!!!!

Microsoft could probably easily allow the developer to use more space if they perhaps paid microsoft for the extra additional space.

Which is kinda stupid based on how size limit should be something that haves space thats well opened for the developers so they wouldnt need to ask if they could need extra space.

Why would you limit filesizes of games and such for download and then say you're heading the way for DLC? MS is so full of it self, glad to see PSN one uping it's Live.

To me, it sounds as if capcom is trying to talk up the PS3 to drum up more future sales. Maybe in light of the discontent displayed by Sony supporters towards capcoms shortfalls.

@stovich

That definitely equals a LOL, are you serious? Playstation Gamers want nothing to do with the game, which is a shame really be cause the 3D version (I feel) is going to be awesomeness. Rearmed however seems to be shaping up to be the arcade game that everybody wants on PSN, PC, and XBLA

Capcom isn't "Talking Up PS3" as the game is going to have no restrictions on the PS3, because yes PSN is more flexible than XBL. Sure MS could let up on the memory restriction, however they'd rather squeeze money out of the situation, to make it happen, in which I don't think Capcom should have to be subjected to. Besides the PS3 can talk for itself, with greatness, not being a fanboy, but it does have greatness written on it, and so does the 360... just not in this case.

So funny how some here say its a victory for sony.  Are you sure it is???  I laugh only because MS will allow for more space if a developer wants it and to my knowledge there is no price the developer has to pay but I will ask since when are you guys lovers of Capcom anyway???  You hated them when Devil may cry went cross platform and you guys just recently complained how their games require 5 gigs of your hard drive.  So tell which is it either you love them and its a victory for sony but then the majority of you look like HYPOCRITES.

@PSPMAN07 - don't get me wrong, I agree with everything you've said. I'm simply stating that it appears as if capcom is starting to sound almost apologetic by highlighting the advantages of PSN.

not everyone hatred capcom just because DMC4 went multiplat, you're lumping everyone into the same category like an idiot. There are still plent of people who hate capcom for that and they probably are as pesimitic about the size restriction comment as you are.

Hmm... I didn't knew XBL had file size limit, and 150MB!?!? Man, most of the demos on PSN are 1 gig...
