Oh my God, that made me laugh out loud "They don't like to speak to eachother" Even if they did do it could you imagine the amount of fights? The hardcore PS3 and 360 fanboys/girls will be killing eachother with slagging and what not.

This is hardly news, is it? The same stories arose with UT3 and Burnout Paradise. In fact, Criterion even went as far as saying that cross-platform would be 'easy', but they actually have to put code in the game to stop cross-platform from working.

 

Besides, from what I've heard, Live can be quite laggy... would we really want them slowing us down? :-)

LOL this has to be the worst article i have ever read....you could have just copied and pasted the titled of the article....but to make it look longer u just repeted what you said in the first paragraph and with the third paragraph u just told us what end war was..... next time save people time and say "title says all".... so i dont have to read your cr@p....and btw im sure every person that owns an xbox or ps3 knows by now that there will never be a game that does cross platform ..beside pc and xbox but im sure we all know why it does that anyway......M$ owns both Xbox and Windows "for the people who didnt know"

Its kinda stating the obvious really but I agree that it would be nice to be able to play online across platforms

Nothing's impossible - highly improbable in this case, perhaps.  It's a real shame that the great behemoths of this industry cannot meet in the middle to provide gamers with what they really want.  The chance to outplay their xbox/ps(*delete as applicable) adversary.

Perhaps standards will emerge for the next + next-generation of gamer to enable this.  Until then we will simply have to keep flaming each other on blogs.

It's a little mroe complicated than "they don't like to talk to each other" come on! They're two hugely bitter rivals with two competing online services, not to mention M$ wants to controll all their servers so they wouldnt want to host PS3 players on their servers for cross platform play.

if his ever comes to fruition i can see microsoft implementing a ps3 virus which attempts to crash connected ps3s

they are foiled however by the fact that microsoft code is easily run by one SPE without breaking a sweat, :p

You know, the Cold War wasn't won by not speaking to each other.    It was won because of spying, careful diplomacy, and...well, mostly because communist countries suck.  Of course competition is good.  Hate the 360 all you want, but the one good that has come out of it is the fact it presses Sony to push the limits even further.  The video game arms/space race is heating up.  So whenever an exclusive like Metal Gear Solid 4, or LittleBigPlanet comes out for PS3, it's like Sony is nuking the moon and saying, "TAKE THAT YOU COMMIES!!!" :p

I dont care who you are, that sound nice. It would have played out nice and I have to thank the for even tring to make it happen. They would have made alot of money to cause people would want to see what it would be like.

Umm i would love to have 360 and PS3 multi-platform why you guys think they canceld Redalert 3 for Ps3....Because EA likes the Idea. plus i like the Idea where M$ just goes and pays every one off to cancel games its good! They are just making are libary look like quality then qanity. 360 has alot of 8--18 dollar games that just sit in Game stop. and if PS3 would go multi platform it would be with Nintendo,,, Since Nintendo started sony in the first place ( in 1994) soooo..... screw 360 and PC sorry i know they have great games but what ever, i didnt spend 4-5 thousand dollars on HDTV, PS3 ,"20 PS3" games and "50 PS2" games... for what to bow down to PC and 360 aka M$ and there 7$ service  screw them. im a sony fan boy because i paid to be. point made MS$ = bad

you forgot to mention that you could also use ANY bluetooth headset you have with the ps3, instead of buying a special, pos microsoft brand one.

but on topic, I don't see it working anyways, since xbox live and psn are completely different. if you wanted to add a friend in game on your 360, how would you add him if he had a psn name? how would you know the difference? i can see it being done, but since these two companies wont communicate like big boys, it wont for a long time to come.

what the f***. that's such bullsh**. what about FFXI. i play on my ps3 all the time with players that log in with their xbox360. if they had a set of servers accessible by both XBL and PSN like Square-Enix, it could be done. i don't know why not.

BRAVO4 i said the same thing to my homeboy the other day. the wii and ps3 are more likely to have cross platform than microsux and ps3. the sixaxis and the wii-mote orrrrrrr the um whatever u call the xbox controller? the only other system i would even think of buyin is the wii just cuz its the respectable name of nintendo. and plus microsux is gay. case closed

in all seriousness no game is going to look better when it comes to the xbox and ps3. but in the future when they push the ps3 graphicly it will be etter then xbox
