Afro Samurai confirmed for European releaseWith the release of our Top 10 Multiplatformers of 2008, it's only expected we cover the exclusives. For almost an entire year we had to put up with the ridiculous, "PS3 has no games," insults. We were told over and over again that the PS3 was failing and that the game selection was beyond poor. Fast-forward to the last quarter of 2007 and look ahead to the entire 2008 list of games and just start chuckling now if you haven't already. It's no shock to PlayStation loyalists that the PS3 is gearing up for an incredible slate of releases for 2008. There are more than a handful of titles that are all possible must-own games. We've gone through a list of these and have compiled them into the top 10 and even included some runner-ups for you. The bottom 5 were easy to scale; however, the top 5 seemed impossible to legitimately order. We'll let you decide.
Runners Up
SOCOM: Confrontation
If you could pick one third-person shooter to be considered the flagship for the PlayStation 3, I think you’d be hard pressed to name anything outside of the SOCOM franchise. After a disappointing showing with SOCOM 3 and the direction they took with a much larger region-style of maps, it’s no surprise that this next installment will feature a lot of fast-paced close quarter combat.
SOCOM: Confrontation promises to bring you at least 5 new maps with the inclusion of the much loved “Crossroads” from SOCOM II: US Navy Seals. One of the coolest new features is the additions being made to the clan section of the title. No longer will all units have to look alike. The ability to change up your camouflage design to suit your clan and give it individuality is going to be placed as a feature in the game. With the title being online-only, it’s good to know that they’re going to include great new innovations like this to the title. The environment itself is going to roughly be 95% destructible, something no other SOCOM has come even close to replicating, as well as the ability to hear the sounds of bullet shells kicked on the ground or ricocheting off the walls.
With 32-player online battles, an advanced communications system, and up to seven different game modes per map, it’s no surprise that this title will probably have fans raving shortly after release. Much like Warhawk, this title will be purchasable through the PlayStation Network or bundled with a headset in stores. SOCOM: Confrontation looks to hit shelves sometime in June.
Tekken 6
The name Tekken is almost synonymous with the name PlayStation. So it’s no surprise that Tekken 6 makes our list of most anticipated titles, even though as a runner-up. Tekken has been a long-standing series backed by the PS brand name and developed by Namco. This installment is released not only on the PS3, but in arcades as well.
Tekken is believed to have the largest roster of characters to ever grace the game. They’ve announced a lineup of 40 playable characters, as well as the return of most of the Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection cast. The title will carry many different stages including several multi-tiered stages as well. With every animation frame being redone for each character, you’ll notice a flurry of fresh animations to witness. Tekken 6 will also feature an online multiplayer mode which will undoubtedly please many supporters of the series. According to Bandai, they’ve also introduced 5 new characters never before seen in a Tekken game before as well.
Finally with the implementation of a solid online multiplayer option, Tekken 6 is coming together to be a must own title for fight fans and possibly even the average gamer. With an unannounced date of release some time in 2008, we’ll obviously have to wait a bit for it. However, this is shaping up to be a title that is worth waiting for.

We decided to not include Final Fantasy XIII cause its highly doubtful we'll see it in the U.S. before 2009.
MGS 4, Killzone 2, God of War 3, Resistance 2 and InFamous are my top 5 PS3 exclusives.
SOCOM, InFamous, Haze, WKC, KZ2, Resistance 2, LBP, and MGS4...
Plus Smash Bros and Mario Kart Wii and Age of Conan.

i agree with this list 100%you should add ff13 as a "just incase it comes out in 08 "game :P lol i really hope it does come out in 08 but yea there is a very low chance of that going to happen.....shame

I understnad LBP is suppose to innovative and shyt but I think ppl are overhyping this thing... Setting it up for a big dissapointment being in top 5 over games like socom...
I honestly think LBP is underhyped... the creativity of humans is amazing, and if MM pulls it off and gives us enough tools to be as creative as possible, this game could be one of the greatest games of all time.
If they can somehow implement triggers into this game, it will be unstoppable.
UMS in RTS games such as StarCraft and WarCraft can be extremely creative, and that's with crappy tools.
Trust me, this game will be incredible.
Can we not manage to put an apostrophe when a title is possessive? This is an awesome gaming site, yet things as simple as article titles are constantly errored in relation to grammar. Possessives = apostrophe. Seriously, it's getting old.

Haze pre-ordered, almost paid for KZ2 and MGS4 are getting pre-ordered next week
i think lbp is awesome but its still unfair that u think it will be more anticipated then the others
there are twice as many people in europe compaired to usa.
Why no FFXIII? Everyone says it won't make it out in 08', but officially it's suppose to and I'll not believe differently until it's officially announced to be 09'.
Otherwise, great list. Can't wait until the second half of 08' when all these games start to roll out.

socom confrontation is just the best i always played socom for psp but until tactical strike came olong i did like that game at all it just sucked donkey balls i want thise game thise one looks nice.

How dare you not place FFXIII. FXIII is a more anticipated exclusive than half of the list here. There some games here I haven't even heard before of. Only three games are known by anyone. Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, and FFXIII. BY FXIII I refer to both FF.

mate the USA does not sell three times as many consoles as Europe, hasn't done for the last three generations of consoles so you'll need to re-appraise your opinion on that one mate. While its true to say that the PS3 hasn't sold stunningly well in the UK pretty much across the rest of Europe, bar Germany the PS3 is beating the 360. In Japan its kickings its behind. I love my 360, however 2008 looks like a damn good year for the PS3 and I think I'll be spending way more money on PS3 software this year. Much of it exclusive. The rumblings about Crysis as well suggest that the PS3 might be about to prove it is more powerful after all and do a come back kid routine!!! I'll wait until the end of 2008 to judge whether or not the PS3 is dead mate. I also live in the UK and I know an awful lot of people who got PS3's for Christmas. I think the 360 has saturated the hardcore gamers market and is looking to struggle to break the mainstream, 2008 is a killer year for both Microsoft and Sony.
My problem with the list is...I really hate FPS games. I play racing, fighting, and RP games. Preferably JRPGs. I'll dig Getaway and MTG4 I'm sure, but they aren't high on my list. The reason I have chosen the systems I have in the past (NES, SNES, PSOne, & PS2) is that they had the most and the best RPGs. I think it's great that the PS3 has the FPS games to pull people away from the 360, but at the same time I am disappointed that the priorities aren't where they used to be =
2008 is going to be the year of the playstation!

Let's see...rent, electricity, water, food, tuition/fees, books, and other expenditures. I even have two scholarships, a loan, and a job. Money just isn't something I have a lot of.

Sorry to point the obvious out but you clearly do because you brought the subject up in the first place. I'll say it again I've got Drakes and R&C and love both games and would urge PS3 owners to give them a go. It's not just Killzone or MGS4 either mate, look at the list of games. THeir are more as well, MGS4 is one of the world most popular franchises, but even that pales into insignificance when compared to Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy. Also you seem to forget that the 360 has had over 12 months head start on the PS3. The PS3's first year sales are actually fairly comparable to those of the 360. I just think Sony if they play it right this year with all the games they have coming out could make a lot of sales. Remember that list doesn't include the likes of God of War III.
