PSU's Top 5 Blu-ray Movies for this Fall

(continued from previous page) ...masterpiece by making a mechanical man named Edward. Before completing his work of art, the inventor dies, leaving Edward with sharp shears for hands. Living alone, Edward stays in the castle until one day a kind Avon lady discovers him: feeling sorry for him, she invites him to live with her and her family. And so began Edward's fantastical adventures in a pastel paradise known as Suburbia.

Cast includes actors such as: Johnny Depp, Winona Ryder, Dianne Wiest, and Vincent Price.

Why we chose this film?

In my opinion one of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp's best films. With a perfect mix of comedy, fantasy, and romance Edward Scissorhands is a must own for your collection. Simply a cult-classic.

It is unknown what features 20th Century Fox plans to include on the Blu-ray version of this film. Speculation suggests we'll get everything from the 10th Anniversary Edition DVD along with a few new commentaries and perhaps Java-based enhancements.

Horror flick pick...

::28 Days Later::
Studio: 20th Century Fox
Rated: R
Release: Oct 09, 2007

Movie Summary:

A powerful virus is unleashed on the British public following a raid on a primate research facility by animal rights activists. Transmitted in a drop of blood or saliva, the virus infects its host by thrusting them into a permanent state of murderous rage. Within 28 days the UK is overwhelmed leaving London and other major cities in utter ruin. Only a handful of survivors make it out of the city and into the countryside where in a last gasp for hope they look to outlast the hellish horror that has been uncaged.

Why we chose this film?

28 Days Later is perhaps one of the best zombie movies I've seen (outside of Shaun of the Dead) and is ground-breaking in the genre of horror. Instead of slow mindless zombies, you have fast, agile, virus infected humans. This really does give you a more frightening, intense and realistic feel to the storyline. The scenery in this movie is amazing as well. The scenes where Cillian Murphy was walking about a deserted London was fantastically filmed. It gave a vibrant picture of what a real biological virus could do to a city.

In terms of what's planned for the Blu-ray version of the film, it's unknown at this time. All we know if that it will be in 1080p and that's enough for us.
