Take a look at Mirror's Edge's upcoming demoDuring Ceatec, a large tech trade show, Kazuhiro Tsuga of Matsushita Electic has expressed his faith in the Blu-ray format, claiming that by the end of this year or the first quarter of 2008, BD will stake its dominance over HD DVD.
Matsushita Electric owns Panasonic, one of the leading companies that back Blu-ray technology. Tsuga is the executive officer in charge of networking and home electronics for the company.
Tsuga claims that BD will be running some amazing promotions this holiday seasons, accompanied by price cuts. He also stated that Paramount's recent defection to HD DVD was a timed ordeal that only happened due to large amounts of money handed to them.
These are some big predictions, so, as always, check back for more details on the next gen video format war.

1st Post!! But seriously, this retarded format war needs to end, I saw transformers for the first time last week off a bootleg, and I really need to see that thing again in HD..
and also, im all for Sony and Blu-ray, but for some reason i doubt this "war" will be ending by the end of the year, we still have probably another several months till HD-DVD is dead.. But hopefully after the holiday season or whenever, universals contract with M$ is up, the war will finally end..
The 1st Poster is an idiot. The article is about Panasonic not Sony. So why you start a sentence with "im all for Sony and Blu-ray" is really stupid.
I'm glad that finally another member of the BDA speaks out to promote Blu-ray.
we all know that blu-ray will win by a mile just all the support for blu-ray is huge so i think that bluray will win
psn id: gingo... everyone and their granny knows blu ray has won and microsoft should jsut realise they are defeated
you are gonna regret paramount >.>
Yes, we are going to take over in 2008.
Heads up:
Venturer SHD7000 a 3rd Gen HD-DVD with network port and the whole shebang will be selling for $149 at Target over the Christmas season... Maybe there will be a 7 x free HD-DVD movies...Maybe something from Paramount...maybe.
And from Toshiba - $150 million buys them a heck of a lot of movies to bundle with their $249 and $299 sets. Maybe a few more than 7 maybe the full dozen...maybe.
Sounds good doesnt it? But you know what...I'm still buying neither. Zip. No HD-DVD no Bluray No "HD" movies what so ever. I might buy a few more DVD's to add to my collection. I like upscaled DVD the quality is good and DVD's nice and cheap. I might download some TV shows I missed... oh so many choices!
So who's making money out of "HD/Bluray" do you think - I'd say no one. Who do you think can afford to loose money all through next year? Some companies like Microsoft can cover 1.5 billion dollars in costs and at the same time still report record profits of just under $5 billion for their last quarter... $5 Billion dollars in three months... holy cow! The company is stating a full year target of $22 Billion - So yep they could do it. In the space of just six weeks Microsoft can earn as much as Sony hopes to make for its full year period to March 2008... Hopes to make....including booked gains from asset sales. What do you think is going to happen?
This dumb "HD" war is crazy and its going to hurt us.
blu-ray will sink HD DVD
Yeah by "JANUARY 2008"
Go b)
I will believe it when I see it.

^^ Going with this guys suggestion. It ain't over til its over and Blu-ray dominates HD-DVD and take over DVD sales as well. Then you have one format fully supported.
Wow, joey, you really ARE an idiot. You should just shut your mouth and avoid future embarassment. You sound like stupid is dribbling from your mouth with every passing word. Show some maturity.
Anyway, with that out of the way, companies are going to continue until the war ends. And the only ones that can make accurate predictions are unbiased parties. Even with that, I thought Blu-ray was already dominating HD-DVD in sales and had been for quite some time.
