Parents confiscate PlayStation, child hires hitman

Posted on November 6th, 2007 at 11:26 EDT

When Shannan and Joey Trojano realized that their 16-year-old son wasn’t getting good grades in high school they did what most parents do - they grounded him for weeks, banned him from watching TV and the most important part, confiscated his PlayStation 3.

Perfectly reasonable, correct? Well, apparently not so for Corey, who instead decided to have his parents killed by hiring a hitman. However, unbeknownst to him, his mother was in turn organizing a sting operation, which involved a police officer posing as the contract killer.

“Two bullets is all it takes,” is what Cory is alleged to have said. He offered his stepfather’s new truck as payment for killing his parents.

Mrs Trojano left Cory’s father when he was a little more than a year old, but by the time she remarried, her son’s behavior was getting steadily worse. He walked out of lessons in middle school, smashed fire extinguisher cases, and then broke into the county fairgrounds where he vandalized property. A judge sentenced his parents to attend no less than 36 meetings with the authorities about his behaviour.

Now, a judge has ruled that he should be tried as a juvenile, which means that he can’t be held past his 21st birthday. Mrs Trojano wanted him tried as an adult where he would of faced a much longer sentence. “He needs to understand what he did was wrong. I’m scared to death that if this kid is serious, and they put him in a three-month program, they’re going to release him to the street.”

If you ever get your PlayStation taken away by your parents then it’s obviously for a good reason. You may not appreciate it and this may sound cliché, but you should be thanking them.

Gotta agree with D3v1l on this one, he speaks my mind. Obviously if the mother wanted him tried as an adult it's because she has absolutly no control at home, more than likely because she wouldn't let the step father spank his a**, it's called discipline, and fewer and fewer kids have it nowadays.

I really hate how these articles(not you PSU, but the original) make it seem like it is the PS3's fault or w/e video game system that the kid has issues. it is obvious in this case that there were serious issues w/ his upbringing to cause him to act this way.

EDIT: and to ppl saying spanking is the way...no it isn't. violence begets violence ppl. I think she should have started taking away his playstations at a much earlier age.

hehhh yeah well d3v1l my mother is also study to become a sycoligest and shes teaching me it at the same time and i can tell u now that spanking youre kids is not gonna help then infact wen u hit a child it teaches them to hit others as well u think about it, a litlle kid whos mum spanked him for being nastuy so that means that he is likely to hit somone at school if there nasty to him it only teaches them violence and if thats honestly the way u think then dont have kids. and same goes 4 U the master. talkin like a old elder "oohh hit oure children beat them show them to respect me I AM KING AND IF U DONT BOW DOWN TO ME I WILL BEAT THE **** OUTA YA" that wat u and d31l sound like.

Children need discipline....period! "If you spare the rod, you will spoil the child". Discipline is not abuse. And it must be done at a young age (aka "bend the tree while it is young, in the way it should grow"). A person will learn how to fight defend themselves regardless of getting spanked as a child. Bound in the heart of a child is foolishness... a child only wants whats most pleasurable, thats why you don't have to teach a kid how to steal, lie, and goof off ect. Discipline is needed. I don't feel sorry for the parents of this kid...how you make your bed is how you will have to lay in it. And yes, the child should be tried as an adult...it is obvious that he is past the stage of treating him as a child.

The boy needs love...like a very long time ago! Serious family issues there, the kid was spoilt and got what he wanted to shut him up and the parents ignored the real issues...he could be on his way to become a criminal or serial killer when he's old!!! Forget blaming gaming, it's always been in the child's head!!! Scary world we live in.

Spanking your kid doesn't teach him to spank others that mistreat him, say, in school. That's just stupid. Kids need discipline, we all know this. Don't take the kid's side. He's old enough to make wise decisions. I just can't stand all this talk about "mentally ill" and s**t.

I've had worse

Spanish parents don't fool around, They hand you your butt and ground you till they see fit (namely anything above a month or 2)
