Shuhei Yoshida has assumed the role of President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS) following the departure of Phil Harrison earlier this year.
Yoshida will begin his new role with the company starting today, after previously working as the SVP of U.S Studios, SCE WW.
He joined Sony in 1993, later becoming producer of the product development department in 1996 and Vice President of Product Development in 2000.
"SCE WWS has been developing global hit titles, sharing resources and know-how within SCE Group since its foundation, and we will reinforce our software business by further enhancing coordination among the studios under a new leader,” commented SCE Group CEO, Kazuo Hirai.
"Under the leadership of Yoshida, who has proven track record in managing creative talent, SCE WWS will accelerate the software development for the PlayStation 3 and PSP platforms and vigorously expand the gaming market."

he has some big shoes to fill. and not just because phil towers over all the japanese
Well if he can be, as enthusiastic and hard working as phil, i may be able to let phil's tragic suicide go....oh wait phil still alive isnt he
does that mean the phil harrison will no longer work for sony
Maro, Phil has long since quit Sony.
well Japan guys is now president then what he will do? bunch of RPG's huh? or MGS stylest 3rd person shooter? well hope he will bring us that hidden good titles soon :)
@RuiyJR
No doubt. I hope he's not, you know... the typical, xenophobic, traditionalist Japanese businessman. Those types of people were the brunt of the reason why Phil left to begin with. They were too backwards-glancing; Home took so long to pitch because the head honchos in Japan didn't believe that social networking and online is the "New Frontier", thinking it was a fleeting extra and not a necessity in today's gaming world.
Come to think of it... that's how Nintendo looks at it. They seem to be doing quite well for themselves.
NOTE: If my above statement about "traditionalist Japanese businessmen" offends anyone, know that I am not trying to be racist, nor am I "taking a stab" at Japanese tradition. Rather, I'm stating an observation on the Japanese business model, at least the gaming business.
dam i thought i had got the job!!
psn id: gingo... i doubt he will have the confidence and enthusiasm of phil but if he can make sonys press conferences interesting like before he will have succeeded
uhh... guys... its a PR guy. Not a developer. lol. He isn't going to bring any specific types of games to the market. As crazy as it sounds, that's what a game developer does. Not a marketing PR.
I miss Phil ill always shed a tear whlie playing call of duty 4 for his sake he made sony what it is today and i hope this new guy can lead us/his followers well.
Yea, well let him get started now, i want my in XMB and an up to date flash player for the ps3, NOW!!!!!!!!
Can't Sony hire Phil just to do press conferences? He's the only one that sounded human while the others at microsoft sound like robots reading a script.
he sounds like a good person for the job i have a good feeling about this
