"Real" user content on PS3 version of UT3, says Rein

Posted on November 29th, 2007 at 09:46 EDT

Mark Rein, VP of Epic Games, says that player made content for UT3 on PC will be fully compatible with the PS3 version.

The Rein, as no one likes to call him, in an interview with Gamasutra, said how the main difference between the PC and PS3 version is the controls, as obviously while the PS3 allows for more analogue movement then WASD, using a mouse to aim is a totally different ball park. Because of this, player made maps and mods that are made for the PC version should have full compatibility with the PS3 version.

There will also be a system in place, whereby mods that might be deemed 'offensive' will be blacklisted. No one wants a repeat of a 'goatse.cx' map (don't ask if you don't know...seriously, you're better off not knowing).

Mark Rein defends the PS3 and Sony quite strongly in the interview, and even gets a bit worked up over the mere suggestion that some games running on the current Unreal Engine look similar.

The Rein has always been a strong supporter of the PS3, and hopefully this means that more Epic games will be gracing the Sony box in the near future.

He also stated that he expects Sony to enjoy a prosperous holiday season, provided they take advantage of PS3’s capabilities as a Blu-ray player, in addition to the software available.

“When I said they were going to have a good Christmas, I didn’t necessarily mean because of our game”, said Rein. “They’ve got a lot going for them right now. It’s a great Blu-ray player. They’re going to push that really hard.”

“….And a great DVD player, too. They did a really good job on that. It really feels like it was designed for that kind of thing”, he added.

Stay tuned.

Now this is what i'm talking about epic have learned to utilise the ps3 and the outcome you can't tell the two games apart from the pc game, now the same should have been said with halflife2 the difference valve couldn't utilise the ps3 so instead of working on the project they said ea are doing the game why they were afraid because they thought they'd look red faced because they couldn't do it so they make all the excuses up they could, any good developer will tell you theres nothing wrong with the ps3 and it's cell processor it takes time. Some utilise it quicker than others i'm mean give it a year when developers really get used to this technology and another thing ms know this thats why when developers do all utilise it they will move on, sonys ps3 is a powerful piece of kit.

Out of the interviews regarding Epic, he's the most approachable (besides Cliffy B).  At least he was man enough to say that "he loves all there children" regardless of what platform there games is in one of the interviews.

The leming train of horror continues to murder innocents as they let their curiosity get the better of them... tsk tsk. For those that dont know: The Goatse.cx image has to do with a photo of a guy who's ANUSwas stretched so huge you could fit a medium size dog in it. If you've ever seen the image of it you'd know it, pray you never do, If there was a map designed around it It most certainly would not be one you want to play... Try NOT to view that image, please... seriously.

To that one dude that didn't seem to mind the pic: you are one sick puppy.
