Additonal Info:
Resident Evil 5 Producer Jun Takeuchi has refused to comment on rumours suggesting that the upcoming survival horror title will incorporate a co-op and cover system.
News of such features materialised in a preview on Games Radar, although the article was quickly pulled soon after. The same article also claimed that the game would include playable flashback sequences.
However, speaking at the recent CAPTIVATE 08 event in Las Vegas, Takeuchi would only confirm the appearance of a new female character, as witnessed in the recent trailer and Famitsu scans.
Pushed on the subject of the control scheme, he let slip that it was “very similar to Resident Evil 4,” but featured one "very, very big difference.”
"But we're not quite ready to talk about that just yet," he added, "so hold on and we'll be happy to tell you all about it." When asked whether or not this element would in fact be the cover system mentioned previously, Takeuchi would only comment, "If I told you that now, you wouldn't have anything to look forward to at E3!"
However, he did reveal that the game would not allow players to fire their weapon and move at the same time, adding, "One of the things that distinguishes Resident Evil from other games is the sense of fear and foreboding, and we feel that system itself is one of the biggest differences between us and other first-person shooters and third-person shooters.”
"If you were able to move around and run away from the enemies and shoot them while you're running, it would result in a game that's not the game we're trying to make. It is taking one ability away from the player, but we feel it results in a better game."
Finally, Takeuchi revealed that the game is currently "60 percent complete,” and that the final product will take over 20 hours to finish.
Stay tuned.

Can't wait to get my hands on this game, but i do wonder how the Co-op feature will work
so can you kill the zombies or not?
I hate it when they don't die since I like killing ALL and having to shoot and run kind of ruins it for me.
i cant wait to get my hands on re5 either i want it so bad!!
*Sniff sniff* Gears of War inspired? I hope so lol. But thats really cool, finally a co-op game in the RE series that can and (hopefully) bring about great added play to the single campaign.
Why don't I have interest in this anymore? I was pumped about it at E3 '07, but now it's like: meh - whatever. I find it strange that I no longer have the desire for RE.
I hope for Co-op in Resident Evil 5 and I cannot wait until E3 this year nor can I wait ten more days "ahem".
:]
