Rock Band DLC news comes early

Posted on February 17th, 2008 at 10:55 EDT

As Monday is a holiday in the United States (President's Day for your information), the announcement of next Thursday's Rock Band downloadable content has come a little earlier than usual. Three songs will be available, priced at $1.99 a pop. El Scorcho fans, prepare to rejoice. The songs are as follows:

El Scorcho - Weezer
Why Do You Love Me - Garbage
Sex Type Thing - Stone Temple Pilots

We hypothesize that the three bundled together will assume the now standard price of $5.49. We'll be rocking to these songs come next Thursday's PlayStation Store update.

Will someone just please release a Metal Edition Game. I could care less if it's Rock Band or Guitar Hero, although I'd prefer 90 bucks over 100 plus. There were some dumb songs on a game titled "Legends of Rock". Once more, there was a Jimmy Hendrix look alike as a character, but no Hendrix songs. It's safe to say that he is clearly a legend on the Guitar. No Voodoo Child, Purple Haze or Foxy Lady. No Motorhead. No, I get AFI instead.  Well, I guess I want a straight legends edition with nothing but legends then one with nothing but Metal, Unearth, Slayer, Megadeth, Shadows Fall, Mushroomhead, etc. I am sure we could all name plenty of bands.

Heck yes Pater :o)
I'd really like to see more Foo Fighters in the mix. And it would be great if they started dishing out whole artist libraries or at least full albums. Who would I send that request to :o)

@psydistix... The previous versions of guitar hero had Anthrax, megadeth, slayer, pantera, ozzy, lacuna coil, slipknot, etc etc etc. I am a metal fan as well and would love to see some more "metal", however, the majority of people who play these games dont listen to mushroomhead, unearth etc. like the metal heads do.

@capt_spaulding.

Unearth isnt the same anymore. After their third album "Endless" they lost their Original Drummer mike, who was replaced by the drummer from Red Chord. I was lucky enough to see them perform the first song that made them big "Shattered by the Sun" (amazing lyrics too ) on the EP Above the Fall of Man. They barely remembered it at the time, but pulled it off for us. I def recommend you check that album + song out. Thats when they kicked the most ass, you will not be disappointed in the least.

I found the song online, click http://www.last.fm/music/Unearth/_/Shattered+by+the+Sun let it buffer, it will work quickly. Now we need songs like that on Rock Band

@Capt_Spaulding

I suppose I can see that being the case with the metal.

How can you have Tenacious D and AFI on a game titled Legends of Rock though.

They got it right with certain classic songs and a few artists like Carlos Santana who is definitely a legend. How about a Zach Wild Guitar Solo(I guess Metallica still hasn't got over the Napster incident). Some Hendrix. Danzig, Arch Enemy, Ministry. Well, I'm falling back into the metal again. Well, they did come out with an 80's Guitar Hero edition. They could come out with one for Metal. It could be a two part set. One for older groups such as Motorhead, Ministry, Danzig, Arch Enemy(Slither by Velvet Revolver because its a cool song).(Do the evolution by Pearl Jam). Then another set with newer Metal groups and by newer I mean not 15 years old. Unearth(before they changed drummers), Amon Amarth, Mushroomhead, Shadows Fall, As I lay Dying. Make it exclusive to the PS3 and have it full of 150 songs.I'd pay big bucks for that.

P.S. please forgive for any mistakes I made in the assumption of the age of a band.

i deffinetally agree there should be a lot more heavy pakages like some pantera, trivium , avenged pakage , plus alot more mettalica and megadeth of course! im sure most people will agree that the best songs to play on the game are the fast ones!

pretty whack how rockband just has all these add on songs.  i mean... cool to be able to get more songs, but it sucks that they have to pay extra for all these songs.

So you spend $170 for the game and instruments, plus another ~$5.50 every week for songs? This is utter bull****.
