Come this holiday season, the PlayStation 3 is expected to have a blistering success with such titles including the highly anticipated Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Call of Duty 4.
However one person in particular believes that beyond having a great holiday season, the PS3 will also become to lead platform for developers to develop on.
Recently Sony Computer Entertainment UK Managing Director, Ray Maguire had the opportunity to sit down with Edge magazine to talk about the upcoming surge of PS3 sales, and boy did he let it lose. Maguire made it known that he is confident that he believes in the UK, the sales of the PS3 will double. Furthermore, he went on to say that the PS3 would become lead platform for developers in the future.
"We're in the period of crossover now, where people will start to develop on PS3 as the lead [platform] if they're multiformat ... because of the Cell chip and because it's got a hard disc in every device, the way of generating games - if you start with PS3 - is you can create the optimal, ultimate game. And then you can knock out functionality to put it onto other platforms."
That is a huge statement there; we can only hope that it becomes the truth. Until then, continue to check back to PlayStation Universe as we cover the PS3, PSP, and PS2 entirely throughout this holiday season.

The future looks to be in sony's favour.
Well its always nice to read positive PR, but that is a lot saying that the PS3 will take the lead again when it has a tough road ahead of it. It does look bright for Sony, however. :)
