THQ announced today that the long awaited sequel to Saints Row is in the works and will be coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 sometime next year.
Being developed by THQ's in house team, Volition, Inc., Saints Row 2 is going to feature even more customization options than the original. The game will take place in Stilwater, a few years after the original, bringing the game to a conclusion.
The game is going to expand on the customization over the first title. So far, it has been confirmed that gender, age, voice, crib and gang will all be things that the player can tweak to create a unique character. The title will also feature new cars, motorcycles, boats, helicopters, and planes to help players travel across the map.
Saints Row 2 is set to have both online co-op and mulitplayer. There is no word yet as to if an offline co-op will make the cut, and there is no word as to how soon we can expect the title. Be sure to check back for more details as they become available.

Why does every press release always start with Xbox 360 ? - It is almost always "such and such is coming to Xbox 360... oh year and the PS3"...
It was only a few years ago every Press releases was "such and such is coming to PS2... the Xbox and oh year and the Gamecube some time later"...
Big up the cleaner, lets show some respect for the godfather of console gaming. If it wasnt for the Playstation franchise and its sales of a 150million plus the gaming industry wouldnt be what it is now. No one else has ever put as many consoles in the homes of people around the world as Sony.
Actually Atari is widely viewed as the father of video games and Nintendo the godfather - but I get your point.
Absolutely no doubt PSX & PS2 have made a massive impact on video game industry - The people not showing due respect are the magazines & e-publications who always lead with the Xbox 360 this time around. They write the articals and they almost always lead with Xbox 360 and then meantion PS3... It is also the publishers and the way they word their press releases - they have put a lower priority on PS3.

Very cool.. of course im looking forward more to GTA IV - but Saints Row 2 will be awesome on the PS3 too. It's ashame they decided not to port the original though.
I'll be picking this one up. I really enjoyed the first one. For some odd reason, GTA can't hold my attention whereas SR can :?

well the helicopter and the plane implements on the second version should of been on the first title !! still i like the first one and i will pick up the second title ..

i heard the 1st one was awesome. supposedly "better" than GTA. but those aren't my words...
The only way I'd get this would be if they released the first one on PS3 as well. I don't know about the rest of you, but I hate jumping into something halfway through without knowing what went on before, or what to expect now. Too bad, Volition/THQ: my sandbox dollars are reserved for GTA4.
