me personal don't see all the hype about it I'm only going to play music when playing sports game. the people who message me can wait till I'm done i don't plan on stopping every 2min to reply. the trophy support is cool but we new this was coming when they announced HOME. they said you would have your own hall of fame to show off all your game accomplishments. but hey this is a step forward I SEE THE TIDE CHANGING ON M$ WATERS

ill say it again: it has been said, verbatim "IN GAME XMB ACCESS WILL BE AVAILAVLE IN 2.4" that probably means there will be custom soundtracks

This would be sweet to have before the end of the month. I'm guessing we'll see this update tuesday of next week.

I agree with previous posters. I'd like some info on what exactly "in-game XMB" is to Sony. In-game messaging only? That would suck. I want in-game voice chat, in-game music, in-game trophy viewing, the works. Maybe Sony won't deliver on it all, but if it's only in-game messaging then I'm not going to lie: I'll be pretty disappointed.

On the PlayStation blog they say acces to the XMB in game, including trophies and some other enhancements.

I want it soon. I have been waiting forever!

I wasn't nitpicking, I was just correcting a typo I saw, that's all, I didn't bother me, or get me angry, also, I live in Puerto Rico and know a lot of latins from other countries, and I've NEVER heard a girl beign called Noel, never in my life. A girl name similar is Noelia.

Back on topic, I hope the update comes soon, I dunno why but I think it is, just hope those coments from Eric and Noel isn't just hype.

You obviously do not know enough languages. The name Noel is Unisex. The name derives from the word Christmas in French, which is Noël.

And I don't see how this comment is showing us it's any closer. We have been hearing it's being worked on since last year, lol. Everyone already knows it's close to release, I just want the release date though. These don't seem to deserve a news bulletin, for how often they appear, but I guess some people like hearing it. No offence to anyone, just a personal opinion.

The day we finally get in-game messaging will, for me, be the day that they finally finished the ps3. Anything in future fw releases is a bonus.

@GAMEOHOLIC, WELL SAID THAT MAN! In game XMB is a nice to have but its not a console killer, all this hype about poxy trophies and being able to play music in games is rubbish, i really couldnt give a flying monkeys underpants. When they release a firmware that gets up in the morning and goes to work for you then comes home and cooks you dinner then i will BELIEVE the hype

Being able to send msgs to your psn friends, while ingame, as in Burnout Paradise already has. Is a real plus for the other games. Finally we won't have to end other games to read the msg. But if Burnout paradise has had this feature since release why take so long to deliver it for the other games? I do remember some article saying that a complete working xmb ingame is still not to be expected. But than again the question is what would need to work ingame?

Well, I predicted that when 2.40 arrived people would still be whining about something. But I was wrong. It's not here yet, and already people are moaning about it! Typical!

I think in-game XMB is going to be gimped.  I mean, they didn't plan for it so they didn't have it implemented.  They didn't establish it for developers, and devs that already have trouble with the PS3 now have to institute something else in every game.  I don't think it will have the functionality of the Xbox's OS access (maybe about 80%), and will cause even more game delays for the next wave of games (whatever they may be, like The Agency and Gran Turismo 5.  You know, 2009 titles).

Will we be able to search the internet while playing a game??
