SingStar release date and first tracks revealed

Posted on August 5th, 2007 at 12:56 EDT

Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band have been getting tons of attention lately, leaving another potential party game feeling a bit left out. SingStar was showcased at Comic Con but Sony failed to release any news for the title.

Well that all changed with a recent announcement at a Lollapalooza related event in Chicago. Sony announced the official release date for SingStar will be November 13 in North America. Also, 15 tracks that will be included on the disc were unveiled.

The list included:

The Automatic -- Monster
Britney Spears -- Toxic
David Bowie -- Let's Dance
Franz Ferdinand -- Do You Want To
The Killers -- Mr. Brightside
Ne-Yo -- So Sick
OutKast -- Hey Ya!
Pixies -- Here Comes Your Man
Queens of the Stone Age -- Go With the Flow
Radiohead -- No Surprises
R.E.M. -- Losing My Religion
Scissor Sisters -- I Don't Feel Like Dancing
U2 -- Beautiful Day
Weezer -- Buddy Holly
Wolfmother -- Love Train

Sony added that more tracks are going to be announced, as approximately 30 songs are expected to ship with the game with a further 300 available from the online service called SingStore. This will surely be the ultimate karaoke experience.

I may get this just for my wife and kids but I doubt i would even try it. That being said is there any real bonus for getting this over Rock Band where you can also sing on that? From what it looks like Singstar is more of a real Karaoke experience vs GHIII or Rock Band?

Yeah, this game better only be like $40. That's not enough songs for a full fledged game price.
