Two of EA's beloved franchises, one new and one old, are set to make a return during the fiscal '09 calender (which runs from this upcoming April to March 2009).
The first franchise set to "see extension" is everyone's beloved Burnout series. EA Games president Frank Gibeau wasn't specific as to whether "extension" meant an entirely new entry, a side-product (see Burnout Legends and Burnout Dominator), or some other type of possibly downloadable content.
In contrast to Burnout, Skate is a completely new franchise. The first entry in the series launched last September on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and was a brilliant fresh of breath air when compared to Activision's long-running Tony Hawk series.
"Tony Hawk has been the Madden of that category for a very long time, and our performance in this first year of skateboarding has greatly exceeded my expectations," Gibeau commented. "I know they're going to come back and be competitive, but these are the fights that EA knows how to win."
Already spurring a re-imagining of Tony Hawk over at Activision, Skate managed to outsell the latest entry in the already established franchise on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. We'll have more Skate 2 news for you soon.
Another nugget of news lies in BioWare and EA's Mass Effect franchise. EA will take over publishing duties on Mass Effect 2, so it's technically possible that the sequel could make the jump to Sony's PlayStation 3. We're sure hoping it does.

Burnout Paradise
but where is the "Black" lovin'???? that game on Next gen would be INSANE!!!
Want Black? Get CRYSIS
Ey! Another Burnout game aye.. Burnout Paradise rocks so i sure am looking forward to that one.
Burnour paradise was crap! took it back after a week.
go back to the old winning formula with tracks,
free-roaming doesn't work well with burnout . you always get lost during online races, and i'm not the only one either alot of people are haveing the same problem
I doubt they want to make it into a Madden sort of thing with annual releases. >_>
Burnout is looking to be the new NFS series with a new version every year. Paradise doesn't even look appealing to me.
The new burnout kicks major a$s. The only real problem is you burn through the major points of the game before you;re half way through it which means you have to find enjoyment in the game regardless of the lack of content, In that regard it's great as an online sand box title but the divide between people who like to do challanges, those who like to race and those who just like to crash into each other creates problems. They need to balance it more so that you dont race through the entire city 5 times before you clear most of the offline content. and find a way to focus the online portion so that people who want to do one thing dont get in the way of people wanting to do something else.
As for Skate, the only thing they need to do to make that a better game is fix the online mode so that it dosent lag to about 5 frames persecond online.
"I know they're going to come back and be competitive, but these are the fights that EA knows how to win."
Ok. Then what the he77 happened to MoH:ABN compared to CoD4? EA got their sphincters handed to them with that one. I kind of wish EA would Acclaim itself.
lets hope they dont buy out the rights from the skaters or car dealers like they did with madden but even though thats more than likely not going to happen
By the way they word it, it's almost as if there's going to be expansions or hugh downloadable goods or someting, instead of a sequel.
psn id: gingo... wel whatever it is for burnout i will be buying cps i got paradise and it took me so much by surprise its one of the best games i've played on the ps3
burnout again
Yeah, sounds good
