BIA: Hell's Highway 'Realism' trailerSony has responded to a listing on HMV’s website pertaining to the UK release of its forthcoming PlayTV service, insisting that the company has yet to issue launch details to retailers.
The listing in question put the TV accessory for release on March 28, priced at GBP 99.99/EUR 130.
However, speaking to Eurogamer today, a Sony spokesperson stated, “We have not confirmed the price and release date of PlayTV to anyone, and that includes retailers.”
PlayTV allows users to record television broadcasts by utilizing the PlayStation 3’s hard drive. The device is scheduled for release in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain, and will not be restricted by copy protection.
Stay tuned for more details as they become available.

psn id: gingo.... a hundred quid seems a bit steep for this i really hope it more around the 60 -70 price range
im glad sony havnt confirmed the price. i hope it will be about £50 or i dont think il be getting it. its only a freeview reciever with fancy software realy... the ps3 does all the recording and streaming to ur psp i should think
Well I think £100 is a fine price for an item like this. I think your compareing this to you average freeview recorder which are crap.
This on the other Hand looks like a very high Quality product.
I think they'll wait until the US gets closer to there all digital format and launch both countries together. About 6-7 months from now
I would be willing to pay at least $150-$200 for the PlayTV . I've always wanted to be able to record television shows and I don't have a TiVo. Plus, with the TiVo, you have to pay a monthly or yearly fee just to use it. PlayTV is almost a dream come true.
i think some people are forgetting that this is much more than just a freeview box that lets u record to ure ps3, it also upscales it to hd i believe. hd esk tv ftw!!!
They want to keep it affordable because not everyone will dish out any high amount off the bat, unless your ballen.
If you have BT Broadband option 2 or 3 you can get a FREE Freeview Recorder! (BT Vision, and its awesome!)
