LucasArts made an announcement regarding its highly anticipated title, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. As it turns out the game will be released on September 16, 2008 in the United States, September 17 in Southeast Asia and Australia, and September 19 in Europe.
"Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is one of the most ambitious projects LucasArts has ever launched. The combination of a great new Star Wars story with revolutionary new technology and game play means more fun than you've ever had in the Star Wars universe," said Peter Hirschmann, Vice-President of Product Development, LucasArts. "We can't wait until gamers get their hands on it this September."
Along with the release date being announced, LucasArts also announced a partnership with Spike TV that will allow the cable network to unveil new details and exclusive footage of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed coinciding with Spike TV's airing of all six Star Wars movies. The special airing of these movies will be airing Friday, April 4, through Sunday, April 6; and Friday, April 11, through Sunday, April 13. The two-weekend special includes the broadcast premiere of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and the basic cable premieres of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace and Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones. Spike TV's Star Wars presentation marks the first time that all six movies will be presented together on a basic cable network.
The special gameplay details and footage will be released in segments during or between the airings of each movie and will be as follows:
-April 6 at 7:58 p.m. ET/PT - between the premiere of Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith
-April 11 at 10:52 p.m. ET/PT - At the end of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope
-April 12 at 12:00 a.m. ET/PT - throughout an episode of GameTrailers TV with Geoff Keighley filmed at LucasArts' headquarters in San Francisco
-April 12 at 5:06 p.m. ET/PT - before Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope

"With the airing of all six Star Wars movies and a first-hand look at Star Wars: The Force Unleashed we're confident that April will be a memorable month for Star Wars fans," said Robert Friedman, Senior Vice-President of Programming, Spike TV. "Our dedication to entertainment and video games makes our relationship with LucasArts an exciting opportunity to take part first-hand in Star Wars history as well as give our viewers an insider's look at the future of the franchise."

PS3 fans should feel honored. Now they will get to experience what they have missed with the KoToR games.
Awesome! Cant wait to play this game!
PSN ID: XtremeCoaster
This one will be nice
i been looking at this game for a while and i am very excited
...... i know there is a lot of hype about this game but why?? i mean isnt it only single player.. and dont get me wrong i enjoy a good single player game... but i just dont see this being as epic as Battlefront 3 will be! WHEN ARE WE GUNNA GET SOME JUICY BATTLEFRONT INFO!!!
PS: I am mainly excited for battlefront because it is one of the few games where 60 players online would actually work and work very very weLL!!
Never bought a Star Wars game and I have yet to see one impress me. Myabe this one will.
It looks great, but I feel like the stupid Wii mote is gonna have a lot of people wanting to get the Wii version.
Though im excited. This release date is to close to LBP and Killzone 2.
Oh, my. That's an acceptable release date. Although I wouldn't argue if they wanted to release it for the summer. Can't wait for this game. Mostly because of the amazing Euphoria engine, but I'm also a big time Star Wars fan.
Looks nice but i'm sceptical of this-
"great new Star Wars story with revolutionary new technology and game play means more fun than you've ever had in the Star Wars universe,"
of course there going to hype it up, while i wasn't a fan of the more recent storylines i.e attack of the clones etc, but i expect this to be good once the levels/world is because it will depend on that with this dmm tech imo..
September 16 is the day SOCOM: Confrontation comes out...sorry, Star Wars loses. Or at least, it will have to wait.
this is gonna be good. go to youtube and look at the videos about all the new technology in this game. looks sick. hope there will be some multiplayer though
bahahaha! not only did europe's release date get shafted by the U.S. but they're behind Australia and Southeast Asia as well! why does this industry always test the patience of europeans? be it PSN store updates, video games, or just about anything else gaming related... europeans are always getting their patience tried
Awesome !!!
cool news but a little redundant in the journalism. "The special airing of these movies will be airing Friday, April 4," I might rent this game. Killzone 2 comes first.
psn id: gingo... this actually looks quite interesting as it is played solely from the dark side so if the reviews hold up it might be worth a purchase
