Ubisoft Montreal is currently in the "preliminary stages" of working on a third instalment in the popular Far Cry series, according to Far Cry 2’s narrative boss, Patrick Redding, who revealed that the team now has a “commitment to the African setting.”
“For us Africa still has a huge amount of promise,” said Redding, during an interview with VG247.com. “There are still things we want to do with the African setting, and I think it’s safe to say we’ll continue to explore it.
“That said, we might find something new and compelling about the Antarctic setting that wants us to make the next game there, but honestly, we’re still at the preliminary stages.”
Redding added that the flexibility of the Far Cry 2 engine affords the developers the chance to set the game in any locale, though he admitted that an extension of the Africa setting in future titles would “save time.”
“If we wanted to make the next game set in the… forest of South America, we could do it,” explained Redding.
“But I think to save time, for us, one of the reasons we chose to use the African setting is because we felt that in order to retain the Far Cry brand value, of an exotic, dangerous environment, a place that maybe people haven’t had a chance to see themselves, or have seen extensively in film, television and other games, we wanted to choose Africa."
“Let’s face it, jungle islands are probably less exciting as they were four years ago.”
Far Cry 2 is due out later this year on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 platforms.

my friend had these on 360 ... can't say that I was reallly into it but I may pick this up just to see how good a job ubi can do with it
FarCry 2 is looking spectacular atm i must say...dont know if the african setting for 3 is a good choice people may get bored with it...but dunno will have to wait and see. Getting FarCry 2 on its release. PSN:Marauder_Ghost
They havent released Faqr Cry 2 out yet now the devs be making another, this game looks way out of balence in my thoughts - location is totally ruined.
What about a far cry 3 based in the australian outback. Plenty of dangerous animals to add to the game like crocodiles and drop bears
This looks like a decent fps,but i'm not sure if i'll pick it up,i guess i need more info b4 making up my mind about this one.@^^^
And kangaroos too, those things can kick!!
